Good weekend Widdershins

With lots of things happening all over, seemingly to the point of making you want to go screaming into the day (or night), I thought we might once again see how the political cartoonists are seeing things.

Naturally Trump rules the cartoons just as he seems to do with the news cycle, but there were other things that caught the eyes of our cartoonist friends, like the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. And that somehow got combined with tRump; go figure.  Below is a sample of the ones that caught my eyes.

Okie doke Widdershins, hope you enjoyed those.  Open thread of course.

To paraphrase an old McDonalds commercial, we deserve a break today.  And I mean a break from the 24 hour, seven day a week news cycle that is our current resident of the White House.  Hell we need more than a one day break, but sometimes you take what you can get.  So no music today, rather a look at the “toons” that have been drawn concerning the current state of affairs in the U.S.  And let’s face it:  the current state of affairs is uh…sad.  So let’s have a few laughs or chuckles about it.

Good weekend Widdershins!

I could not even really get it together for music this weekend.  I’ve been having some sinus things happening with the worst of it being the infamous sinus headache, the one right over your eyes.  Ugh.  So I’ve pulled together some recent political cartoons for your (I hope) enjoyment.

Open thread of course.

Winter’s coming

Good Weekend Widdershins!

For a change of pace I thought we could take a look at what’s going on in the world of political cartoons.  No thinking needed for this and all that’s required is the ability to have a small chuckle or huge guffaw depending on what you think about the cartoon.

With deepest apologies Widdershins, I really haven’t had the time to sit down and pull together a musical or movie post for this weekend.  So instead I’ve gathered up some political cartoons of the past week and will share them here.

Naturally a number of them concern Roseanne, Trump, and the off-again/on-again summit.

Enjoy.

Good weekend to you Widdershins!

I hope that you are having a good weekend.  Let’s pause for a few moments and send some kind thoughts to those people on the Texas Gulf Coast.  According to some of the latest model runs at the time I’m writing this, they could be dealing with this for several days.

I thought today I would share some political cartoons I came across.  The sad part is that while we probably indeed need to laugh at some of these, it is indeed…well sad because some of these are actual things.  And I still find it hard to believe that while the nation is concerned with Harvey in the Gulf, the orange turd decided it’s a good day to pull his stunts.

(Sigh) We used to be able to look forward to Fridays as the start of the weekend.  Now we’re going to start dreading each and every end of the week – not knowing what the hell the talking yam is going to do to ruin it for us.

I hope you enjoy the cartoons and they are in no particular order.

Good Sunday Widdershins!

Happy Sunday to you Widdershins.  Alas, I believe the muse has left me.  She has flown the coop.  Said adios.  She left no farewell note nor a forwarding address.  SAD!

After umpteen “light” posts I believe I have gone through the gamut, when considering politics and since November the election of the Orange one.  I have done music or movie posts on:

  • Outrage – done that
  • Rage – been there
  • Anger – way too much
  • Vengeance – is nice to think about but not too often
  • Revenge – See vengence
  • And so forth

I feel as if I’ve gone to the well and it’s a duster this time.  Sooo, I’ve gathered a collection of political cartoons for us to take a gander at and perhaps get a sad chuckle at them.  Enjoy.***

***  I saw this statement in a Charles Pierce article and maybe I’m getting there too:

At some point, I guess, you just have to walk away. Not forever, and not for long. But, sooner or later, you have to arrange one morning where you wake up and deliberately decide not to find out how the country has lost its mind overnight. I’m getting to that point, I have to tell you

Of course this is a totally open thread.
