The Widdershins

Good morning Widdershins! This week we saw another torrent of bad news for Drumpf and his partners in crime. As all the birds starting singing to the January 6th committee and news came out about secret meetings in the Oval Office, a planned and coordinated fake electors plot (with a project plan, deliverables and milestones!) and the scheme to seize voting machines in 2020, the RNC doubled down on its gaslighting by censuring the only Republicans on the January 6th Committee, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, and officially denoting those who participated in the attempted coup against our government as engaging in “legitimate political discourse.” Also, War is Peace, right Ronna?

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Friday’s resolution targeted the Jan. 6 committee probe, which has subpoenaed a range of politicians and Trump White House aides as it tries to piece together their role in events leading to the assault.

“Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger crossed a line. They chose to join Nancy Pelosi in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse that had nothing to do with violence at the Capitol,” she said. She said she “condemned violence on both sides of the aisle.”

The censure was overwhelmingly passed.

Let’s take a look at what she’s saying here. Her argument is that everyone who didn’t go to the Capitol and riot was just expressing an opinion. So everyone trying to overturn our government through non-violent means should be ignored and allowed to continue, according to her. This would include Mike Pence’s and Drumpf’s staff, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, Mike Flynn and his brother, Steve Bannon, Sidney Powell…the list goes on and on.

That is a horrifying statement, but if you think about it, why wouldn’t she make it? The Republicans know they are no longer a political Party that can win elections legitimately. They haven’t won the Presidency legitimately since George Bush I, and they’ve used voter suppression tactics, election fraud, gerrymandering, conspiring with foreign enemies, and the Electoral College to gain control of state legislatures and steal the Presidency.

They have been like this since 1994, and every single elected Republican knows it.

Newt Gingrich Republicanism was bad enough, but what Newt and it has evolved into since 2015 is even worse: a Party promoting white supremacy, and promising violence and prison to everyone who opposes them. They are Nazis: actively for fascism and against democracy.

There is nothing “legitimate” about that.

So when I see people like Mike Pence coming out and saying that the Mango Moron is wrong and Pence couldn’t have overturned the election; Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger sitting on the January 6th Committee; and Mitt Romney (whose niece is Ronna McDaniel) saying the RNC was wrong to censure Cheney and Kinzinger, I don’t applaud or give them any credit. Cheney and Kinzinger are doing the bare minimum their oaths to the Constitution require. Mike Pence stood by Drumpf for 4 years as he rampaged through the federal government, destroying everything he touched. Mitt Romney voted with Drumpf while he was President, and in the age of Biden, he has voted against voting rights legislation repeatedly.

They still call themselves Republicans. They know they are part of a Nazi Party. They are scum. And I won’t be tricked into congratulating them or thinking there’s some redeemable part of the Party, just because I deeply wish there were two (or more!) legitimate choices to vote for in this country. There aren’t. There are Nazis, and then there are Democrats. That’s the choice.

There are no good Nazis, and there are no good Republicans.

Open thread as always…

Okie-doke folks today is the day.

If you have you ranted and raved against Obama, now’s your chance to throw the bum out and vote for his opponent.

If, on the other hand, you’ve taken a gander at what the two R’s offer and are appalled at it, now is the time to give Obama another four years.

And, if you feel like a pox on both of them, then there are a host of third party candidates you can pull the lever, darken the circle or whatever, for.

However, the most important thing is…to vote!  If you don’t get your butt out to vote for a candidate, then you have NO SAY in how the election goes.  If you don’t exercise your right to vote then you cannot gripe, bitch, complain or anything else about what happens in the next four years.

And that is exactly what it is:  Your right.

For those of you who have voted early, congratulations for exercising your right to vote.

For those of you who haven’t either voted early or do not intend to vote,  all I can say is this: Too many men and women have given up their lives to give you that right to say who you want to lead this country. If you do not exercise your right to vote then you make a mockery of what these folks fought and died for.

It’s your duty damnit!

TO VOTE!

This is an open thread.

Note to our Florida Widdershins:  If you are going to vote today…pack a lunch and maybe dinner too!  🙂

***** NOTE WIDDERSHINS ******

WE WILL BE LIVE-BLOGGING THE ELECTION RESULTS STARTING AT 9 P.M. EASTERN STANDARD TIME SO BE SURE TO COME BACK AND JOIN IN THE CONVERSATION!!!

So is this sh!t over with yet?  I mean, I have completely had it.  This has worked on my last nerve.  I’m up to here with it.  I’m trying to think of any other trite little phrases to add in here.

In my opinion there has been nothing to get excited about in this election.  It just seems to be a choice between:  a) the one we know and b) the one we don’t even want to know.  I suppose you could call it excitement when you see how bat-shit crazy Mitt is with his super-secret 5 point plan to do whatever it is it’s supposed to do.  Is that super-secret 5 point plan similar to his super-secret tax returns, i.e. nothing we should be concerned about? And then Eddie Munster Jr. chimes in with how hard it is to explain that darned math to all of us and so we should just not worry about any details until later.  The problem is little Eddie, we’ve already seen some of your handiwork in your budget plan you created and most of us don’t care for it one little bit.

So then there’s the other side, the one with the President.  If I don’t like Mitt, then I guess I have to like Barack, right?  Uh…no.  He’s done a number of things I don’t like such as the continuation and further eroding of our civil liberties, worsening the situation from what Dubya had done all in the name of protecting us from terror.

Then there’s the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.  Now I think most of my fellow Widdershins know I was able to obtain health insurance through a part of the Affordable Care Act which created an insurance program for those folks like me who have pre-existing conditions that made it difficult to otherwise get health insurance.  Now, I’m about to find out how good this thing really is since my doctor wants me to have some sessions with Physical Therapy for my neck/arm problem and (good luck here!) they are going to try to get an okay for an M.R.I. of  my neck.  There is a deductible to meet and then an 80/20 share after that is met.  (Oops, I went off on a tangent there-sorry)  So this isn’t bad for me now, but, we coulda had a V8 uh, Medicare for All or at least single payer.  But, Obama caved um settled for less and we have what we have.  Now I know that working with Democrats who run the gamut from our most liberal friends to those of the Blue Dog persuasion is not an easy task and that’s when the Dems had a majority in the House and Senate.

There have been other issues that have made me not so thrilled with him but it becomes a choice of the devil I know versus the one I don’t know but I know what that other devil wants to do.  And, I still have not made up my mind completely that I will vote for Obama.  After all, I am registered in Louisiana and the state is now about as red as they come.  Looking over the ballot and candidates for President I was amazed at the choices I have.  On the Louisiana ballot for Presidential candidates I have a choice of:

  • Barack Obama,, Democrat
  • Jill Stein, Green Party
  • Gary Johnson, Libertarian
  • Mitt Romney, Republican
  • Virgil Goode, Constitution Party
  • Ross Anderson, Justice Party
  • Jack Fellure, Prohibition Party 😆
  • Jerry White, Socialist Equality Party
  • James Harris, Socialist Workers Party
  • Sheila Tittle, We the People Party
  • Peta Linday Socialism and Liberation

The Socialist Equality Party and the Socialist Workers Party intrigue me, but the Prohibition Party-not so much -just by the name.  I wonder:  Do the We The People Party…like to party?

Okay, I need to stop now since my arm is doing its little thing and it is time for some Aleve.  I have little notes all over my calendar:  Next Aleve: 2:30 pm, Next Tylenol 5:30 am Next tramadol 4:30.  I line through one dosage time and put the next one for 6 hours or 12 or what have you.

So how do you all feel?  Are you glad the debates are over?  WAS there a winner in these things in your opinion?  Did they make a difference in your choice?
