How *&%*&! is TrumpWorld? Open thread

Posted on: July 22, 2022

I’m writing this from the airport as Mr. MadamaB and I head out to the East Coast for some yearly friend time. Cannot wait to get away for a little while!

We have had some major revelations over the past week, including of course last night’s blockbuster hearing. In addition, I just read that Steve “Shower? What’s that?” Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress after .03 nanoseconds of deliberation. That gob of axel grease, B.O. and dirty laundry is going to jail.

Here’s another thing to discuss while I’m out: looks like the most reliable voting bloc, seniors 65+, has swung heavily towards Democrats. Maybe the QOP shouldn’t have overturned Roe v. Wade and Casey and said they were going to cancel Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid?

I’m sorry I can’t provide links because my wifi signal is weak, but I swear there are sources for all these claims.

In any case, have a great week and tawk amongst yerselves!

Here’s one of the links I couldn’t post before.

Have a safe trip and stay cool, MB.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday signed a bill into law that allows private citizens to bring civil action against anyone who manufactures, distributes, transports or imports assault weapons or ghost guns, which are banned in the state.

California Senate Bill 1327 is modeled after a Texas law that allows private citizens to bring civil litigation against abortion providers or anyone who assists a pregnant person in obtaining an abortion after as early as six weeks of pregnancy. The US Supreme Court in December allowed Texas’ six-week abortion ban to remain in effect, which prompted Newsom, who has been supportive of abortion rights and pro-gun control, to say he was “outraged” by the court’s decision and direct his staff to draft a similar bill to regulate guns.
Under the California law, a person would also be able to sue a licensed firearms dealer who “sells, supplies, delivers, or gives possession or control of a firearm” to anyone under 21 years old. It allows citizens to sue for a minimum of $10,000 on each weapon involved, as well as attorney fees.
Newsom, a Democrat, on Friday acknowledged that the law would likely be challenged in court.

Thanks, Shadow!

That law is a great poison pill. On what grounds could it be rejected? SCOTUS said SB 8 in Texas didn’t violate the Constitution…This is the same thing, isn’t it? 😈😈

I think that is so great, Shadow. I love it. Giving Christofascists a taste of their own medicine. Poison pill, exactly.

“That gob of axel grease, B.O. and dirty laundry is going to jail”

Well said! 🙂

“Shower? What’s that?” Let’s HOPE he gets an introduction. Both jail and showers have been coming/needed for a long time.

McConnell was just so proud of himself for pulling off this (soft) coup of the Supreme Court. What if it’s that very thing (or at least the straw that broke the camel’s back) that does in the GOP and keeps McConnell from ever having power again?

This is a ‘No shit, Sherlock’ moment. This columnist isn’t the only one that did Franken dirty without a proper investigation.
Columnist says she was wrong about Al Franken. Hear his reaction
Former Sen. Al Franken tells CNN’s Jim Acosta what he thinks of The New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg’s piece saying she was wrong to call on Franken to resign without a proper investigation into allegations of sexual harassment.

@9, Shadowfax, “No shit, Sherlock” is the least of what I think! Franken said repeatedly he welcomed an investigation. He wasn’t yelling about witch hunts and refusing investigation.

Steve “Shower? What’s that?” Bannon

Don’t just contemplate. Do it!

Jan. 6 committee could ‘contemplate a subpoena’ for Ginni Thomas. The wife of a Supreme Court justice had zealously pushed in text messages for the overturning of the 2020 election results.

Exactly my immediate thought. “Contemplating”? Contemplating? CONTEMPLATING?

/*endless screaming*/

Posting this tweet that @socalannie retweeted!

Time for a camouflage critter.

And some short-legged cutenesses!

Luna and Annie-

Thanks for that tweet to the Women’s March.

I have something that has also ticked me off from the beginning…why the Hell did they wait to hold that march until after Dump stole that election.
And pushing Hillary aside in 2008 for Obama was the Dems fault, including the committee and also Nancy and top ranking Dems.

I blame the cute critter posting on my 2nd glass of wine tonight.

@18: I had a difficult day today but I feel so much better after seeing those sweet otters. Thanks, Luna.

@17, yes, and yes again. Plus they ignored Hillary and didn’t even ask her to speak even though she was the majority vote winner by 3 million. She warned that Trump would change SCOTUS and she was right.

Sending you positive thoughts and a big hug Beata to help your day get better.

Beata, thinking of you and sending you a gentle cyber otter-hug!

Hoping you’re less uncomfortable today, Beata.

That ad by Mothers Against Greg… wow. I wonder where all this crap will end. Back in the 1820s? With the great-granddaddy of all backlashes by everybody with a heart? In a split country?

Thank you, Luna, Shadow and Q.

I overdid it the first few days I was back online. I get exhausted easily and need rest. It’s important to remember that taking good care of yourself first is a sign of strength and wisdom, not selfishness. Especially as women, we tend to focus on others (including fur babies) and put ourselves last. That is a lesson I seem to need to learn over and over again.

Note to self: I can’t save the world. It’s not my job!

But speaking of saving the world, I am encouraged that Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff and his top WH lawyer have recently appeared before the DOJ’s grand jury in the January 6th investigation. This is a very important development. Pence’s Chief of Staff is the highest known member of Trump’s WH to have given testimony to the grand jury.

Will we see an October surprise from the DOJ???

Marc Short, Pence’s former Chief of Staff, certainly had some “choice words” for Matt Gaetz on CNN yesterday. Whoa!

It’s a crazy world when someone like me is cheering on Mike Pence’s aides. Never thought that would happen.

“It’s a crazy world when someone like me is cheering on” … *any* of that crowd. I know, right? as the kids say!

Gah! It’s been too hot where I am — crept into the low 90s. “Crept”? “Blasted” is more like it. Daily highs are slowly going down but it will be a few more days before we’re back to normal. I’m off for a few days backpacking. About the only nice thing with hot weather is the alpine lakes actually get warm enough to swim in for a few minutes. Stay well, everyone.

Hi All! Sorry I’ve been absent for a couple of weeks. Been dealing with a lot of health issues for Hubs & Son, and some annoying home repairs. I did read the past posts & threads I missed. As always, enjoyed all your comments. And how lovely to hear from Beata and Roz!

Luna, I’ve heard about the heat wave you’re getting. Sounds awful. Are you really going to swim in those alpine lakes? I swam in Lake Whatcom several times, mainly to go water skiing. Our weather down here hasn’t gotten brutal yet. We’ve have almost to fairly hot days in my part of CA, but cool nights.

The 1/6 committee is very interesting, but I’ve missed quite a bit of it. Hoping to catch up soon.

That otter & baby are adorable. And the Corgi’s. That women’s march org. is a nasty, arrogant group. I saw a nasty twitter thread of theirs where they argued with everyone about the trans thing, and then said that they support all women but “terms”?!? Really crazy. I need to quit looking at those trans threads. I don’t need the extra stress.

Oops, meant to say terfs, not terms. Autocorrect.

I am going through one of my phases where I am soooo ready for the aliens to land and solve all the world’s problems.

You know what I mean?

Quixote @32, I definitely do!

I have transported my astral body to a beautiful alpine lake where there are no world problems.

The water’s fine!

I know those alpine lakes! You have to be one them hardy Nordics for the water to be fine!

Everything else, though… that’s me, sitting a little way back, absorbing the stupendous beauty …

@32 Yes!!

Alito’s method of conversion is to shove it down people’s throats. That only works with babies. Which I suppose is why the Catholic Church is always wanting MORE BABIES!

Alito: “It is hard to convince people that religious liberty is worth defending if they don’t think that religion is a good thing that deserves protection.”

It is hard to convince a Supreme Court judge that freedom from religion is worth defending if that judge doesn’t think it’s a good thing that deserves protection from Christian fascists like himself.

Alito is going to be the albatross around the GOP’s neck. No one is going to hate him more than Republicans if he is the cause of a losing streak that never ends. He’ll be the guy who killed the golden goose.

Annie, I hope your family is feeling a lot better.

Hey, Luna? You surviving the Pacific Northwest weather? Does not sound good!

And, yes, Annie, hope things are going better!

Hey Shinners! I’m back from vacation after a 15-hour trip home yesterday. I’m exhausted but happy for the break.

I was not near an Alpine lake, either mentally or physically, but I was in a cottage on a lake in New Hampshire. After a couple of really hot days, the weather cooled down and we had a wonderful time.

I’m glad your back MB and you had a wonderful time with friends and family.

Widdershins, I am in need of the often ridiculed thoughts and prayers. This week, I need to have a medical procedure done. It’s something I have put off for several months because Covid is rampant here. Normally, the procedure would be considered minor, but because I developed severe Guillain-Barre Syndrome from my 1st vaccine last year, I cannot have another vaccine. It took me many months to be able to walk again after developing GBS. So I am now unvaccinated and at very high risk. If I get Covid, it will very likely kill me. I’ve tried to weigh the risks of having this procedure done vs. the odds of getting Covid but honestly it’s impossible. I’m scared so thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just found out yesterday that a former college boyfriend died of Covid last year. He was a wonderful, caring person who had a lasting impact on my life. I probably would not have gotten through college without his constant encouragement and love. He moved to another country to take a job after college and we lost touch over the years but not because of any falling-out. I am heartbroken that I will never see him or hear his voice again.

It is an important reminder to reach out to people you love and tell them how much they mean to you.

Sending you good thoughts and prayers, Beata!

Glad you had a good trip, MB!

OMG BEATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I missed hearing from you so much!!!!!!!!!! So happy to see you posting!!!! *hugs*

Beata, prayers are on the way to you and very positive thoughts. Please keep us posted when you can. Hugs.

_All_ best thoughts and wishes to you, Beata!

Testing… I hope this comes out for Beata and gang

Shadow, love the cute pix!

Beata – I’m sending you thoughts and prayers and love. I’m so sorry the vaccine was so harmful to you, and that your ex-boyfriend passed away. {{{{Hugs}}}}

@51 Not too shabby! 🙂

@52 Gawd, that’s the truth.

Really cute critters, Shadow.

When it comes to saying Biden is too old and Pelosi is too old – people point to their parents as “I’d never let my 80 year old father run the country.” Well, I wouldn’t let my parents run the country at any age. Not everyone loses their marbles at an advanced age. That is actually easily proven. Many examples of people at very advanced ages still doing great things. Thurgood Marshall left SCOTUS at 81. Did anyone claim he was too old? Akira Kurosawa directed “Ran” at 75. Verdi wrote his two greatest operas at 74 (“Otello”) and 80 (“Falstaff.”) There are many examples like this. Can you guys name some? I want to make a list of more.

DYB @55

The US and many other countries most value the young and attractive, often not high on the IQ scale at all. Then as time goes by, they want to put the wiser more experienced, (women especially) out to pasture. By trying to eliminate the wiser elders, it makes room for the inexperienced and ‘fresh’ new idea people to experiment with their hair-brain ideas, and everyone suffers.

A good example of this is AOC and her gang that wanted to put Nancy out of office when they first entered Congress.

Other countries value their elders, and recognize their wisdom. The good thing is that intelligent, experienced elders are used to fighting off the inexperienced and only step back when they are ready.

PGWodehouse wrote hilarious stories into his 90s. He was more consistently top-of-the-game from about 50-65, but still did some peak work later. (You may or may not like his stuff, but that’s a different issue.)

Bertrand Russell.

I’ll think of others, but those two pop up immediately.

Plus, quite a few who are yammering about “too old” also like to say the shambling orange bag of triglycerides is “athletic” if he manages to swing a golf club. (The same guy who couldn’t walk to his own coup….)

The whole thing has just become yet one more way to call people names.

And now we find out the DoD also accidentally wiped messages from 1/5 – 1/6. Totally a coincidence.

Yes, GO PELOSI! China’s attitude that they get to dictate other countries’ affairs has got to stop. It’s no better them doing it than the Putin.

But what I really came here to saya is Go Kansas! 21% of vote counted: 65% for keeping rights, 34% antichoice. And that’s _Kansas_. If we just had real, honest, unrigged voting in the US all these idiotic “controversies” would be over.

Bailey Airplane Ears is so darn cute…those ears are fantastic.

Hillary and Nancy in Pink Pantsuits telling China to go eff themselves! You tell um ladies!!!

Yes Q and PJ, Kansas is voting like champs to save Women’s choice rights!!!! I hope a lot of the people are also women Rethugs.

MSNBC calls the No vote in KS will win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing! I am stunned. Thank God for eastern Kansas. And yes, there had to have been quite a few Republican women voting no. This was a “HELL NO! Fuckers!” I am so happy. I can’t believe it.

This is a very, very good sign.

PJ, you and 62+% of your KS citizens should be very proud!

@68 I hardly ever get to say this (outside of basketball)… I AM SO PROUD OF KANSAS!!! We did it.

PJ, good to know that 62% of people that took the time to vote were for women’s rights. You are not alone, maybe just living in the wrong area of your state. 😉

Heartwarming about the Kansas vote. If only this will start a trend of people voting for what’s in their best interest instead of what faux news tells them to vote for.

I love that tweet with Hillary and Nancy in pink, defying China. I hope everything goes okay with Taiwan. I went with my folks and some of their friends on an Asian tour in the late 80s and we went to Taiwan and the people there were very friendly and polite. We also went to Hong Kong which was quite the exciting place. I hung out with a young guy my age who was the son of one of my parents friends and we had some funny adventures. But anyway, wherever we went, we met Chinese families that had sent their sons off to Canada or Australia to go to college and get settled there so that they could bring their families from Hong Kong, before China took it over in ’97 when the British lease was up. A lot of Hong Kong families came to the US also of course, and hubs worked with one for a few years. He hasn’t been back in over 10 years, but he told me I wouldn’t recognize it. You probably remember the protests that have gone on in Hong Kong since the takeover. I hope it doesn’t happen to Taiwan. Anyway, Nancy and Hillary are two amazingly brave women.

I think a lot of those R women who voted “no” will go back to voting R when it’s R vs D. But I believe I heard that the day after Roe was overturned, voter registration in KS went up 1000%. A lot of new voters registered for the abortion issue alone. Those voters will not be voting R in November.

Agree with the awesome link pantsuits and nerves of steel for both Hillary and Nancy!

PJ – here’s some interesting math on the Kansas result from, of all people, Bill Kristol. I like the way he breaks down the votes in this thread.

@74 That was really good. Thank you for posting MB! Yeah, I know – Bill Kristol. 🙂 Hard to argue with his math that yes, there were “no” votes from Republicans.

Alito is going to be blamed – as he should be. I wonder how long it’s going to take for Dump to throw him under the bus. “I didn’t appoint him. That was W! Don’t look at my three.” The MAGAts will buy it, but no one else.

I saw some moron on twitter saying he knew there would be some blowback from overturning Roe, but it was WORTH it. I could feel the sneer coming off the screen. What if the blowback is a hurricane and not a breeze? I wonder if he’ll still be saying it was “worth it”.

It looks like the ultraMAGAts all won in AZ? It’s terrifying to think of any of these people winning a general election (in AZ or elsewhere), but it does improve the Dems chances of winning. Republicans really are shooting themselves in the foot. Like with an AR-15.

Yeah. In the High And Far Off Times, I would have chortled about the Repubs going for wall to wall loons. Well, those seats will go to the Dems, I would have gloated.

Post-Dump, of course, I’ve realized by Granny was right. It can always get worse.

For sure, quixote.

I just feel like the Trump Blimp is leaking air by the day. Not with MAGAts, but with the country (the big suburbs especially). And then Alito sticks a big knife in it (unintentionally, of course – he intended the opposite) and the Jan 6 committee sticks another big knife in it and the air is coming out faster and faster. Will it come out fast enough to save our democracy? I don’t know…

I’ll tell you, Republicans are super pissed at the DNC for propping up the ultra MAGAts. They are going on talk shows sternly lecturing Dems for this and blaming Jamie Harrison for not letting their voters vote for non MAGAts. So I think they know they’re going to lose.

It’s definitely risky but the Democrats are pulling the mask off. Youngkin in VA ran away from Drumpf to get elected. No more. You are the MAGA Party and you will own it!

I like this data on Kansas too!

The QOP could have avoided all of this if they didn’t pin so much of their electoral strategy on overturning Roe v. Wade. It is the definition of a non-partisan issue and the QOP doubled and tripled down on doing the thing that 80% of Americans DID NOT WANT THEM TO DO.

Now they will reap the electoral whirlwind. The 2022 elections are going to be about women’s rights to bodily autonomy and safety in their personal choices. Check out this anti-Kemp ad from supporters of Stacey Abrams for Georgia Governor.

“Now they will reap the electoral whirlwind. The 2022 elections are going to be about women’s rights to bodily autonomy and safety in their personal choices.”

What is that old saying, “Hell hath no furry as a woman scorned.”

Oh yes, the raving religious nutbags on the Supremes did their effing party no good by releasing the political cracken on women of the US before an election.
Their self-righteous ignorance against 51% of us was the reason their careers will become a living Hell.

Griner gets 9 years in a Penal Colony. This is outrageous!

Great comments, MB and Shadow @82. I agree, the mask of “Compassionate Conservatism” is in the dumpster. I think a lot of little magats are happy about it. They were sick of playing that game. They love being out and proud. I don’t think they’ll love losing elections…

On overturning Roe, Claire McCaskill and others have been saying it’s the dog who caught the car. Now it’s just a matter of whether the dog gets roughed up a little bit or a lot. Or killed… I think the vote in Kansas is an indication of what it’s going to be.

@83 That is horrible news about Griner.

(re Griner, it’s horrible and worst of all for her. The way this kabuki works, at the kabuki level of the mess, is Putin has to sentence her to prove that it’s really about some crime and isn’t just hostage-taking. Then, after enough time to be able to pretend it’s an independent event, there’s the prisoner swap. Biden has already said he’s willing to give them Bout, and you’ll notice it was after that they finally sentenced her. So, assuming we are dealing with this pathetic and horrible kabuki, we can hope she’ll be home in a few months.

That’s what I’m hoping.)

Insignificant side note…

Wow, I didn’t realize Orban was such a fatty. Trump should stand next to him more often (when Christie isn’t available).

@85 That is really hopeful, quixote. Thank you for that.

I think I might be stuck in mrs spam filter. Let me try that again.

OK #88 worked.

Hey all it is me again. I do not know how to say it but to say. I really have been running for my life since the computer hack I suffered in 2010.

I am trying to teach myself how to write again in comprehensive sentences. And finally trying to finish my Song of Un, librett, as madamab’s husband called it so long ago now.

My Substack is a mess, but I am ok with that for the moment. A mess, meaning it will not make much comprehensive sense if you try to read it in an orderly fashion.

American Mindf*ck: The QAnon Documentary They Don’t Want You to See

Jim Stewartson is the man that caught Mike Flynn training the evangelical congregation in the theosophy prayer of St. Micheal. Not the actual prayer of St. Micheal as Beata or I might know.

In other words Jim caught Flynn in the act of the art of deception. If you don’t stop my substack, move this video, if it rings true for you. It will continue to help through midterms and so forth.

He did a great job on his documentary, one of the best I have seen, to knowledgeably explain active measures.

La-t-da!!! Welcome back!! I’m glad you’re doing better.

Can you believe Dick Cheney said something true? It had to be the first time ever.

But their emails!

“Dick I-shoot-my-friends-in-the-face Cheney” Hahahahahahaha. Ok, now what did he say? 🙂 Great ad. He still scares the shit out of me and I’m not even his friend.

@92 Excellent point. The whole “but her emails” thing was insane at the time, but now it looks truly psychotic.

Cinnabon says she will ‘move forward’ on economic bill, putting Biden’s agenda on the cusp of Senate approval.

I am not holding my breath on this woman that took weeks to read the effin’ proposal, but I hope it goes though the Senate and the House.

Here is what the proposal is now –

Beata, I’m still saying prayers for you and hoping all goes well and you don’t get Covid.

PJ @73, Kansas voter registration went up 1000%? Incredible. I hope they all turn out and vote blue for our rights. @93, Well said, all of it.

I wonder if Darth Cheney made the ad to defend his daughter. Lordy, he’s gotten old. Which I guess means we have also. My kid thinks Liz will run for prez. Maybe after the q-faction destroys the rep party and they try a reboot?

It’s terrible what Putin is doing to that poor woman. I hope she can come home soon. Looking at her eyes is so sad, she looks so heartbroken.

I don’t know what to say . . .

@97 Oh man, socal! I won’t be eating breakfast this morning (green, puking emoji). I hope they bankrupt that vile POS Alex Jones.

@96 Yes, I believe those new voters (70% women as MB pointed out) will be showing up and enthusiastically voting blue in November. Alito has awakened the sleeping giant. The unrealistic dream of sending a Democrat to the Senate from KS is now within the realms of possibility.

I think your kid is right, but I don’t think there’s going to be anything left to reboot. I think there’s going to be an ugly divorce between the two factions: MAGAts vs. Establishment Republicans. And neither can win without the other.

In this clip, Joey, the pitcher represents either a MAGA voter or an old school R voter, pissed off at the other side. We’re the chubby kid at bat.

I didn’t mean to imply that Dems have been singling out to the pitcher. Dems have been doing great lately. I was mostly just having fun at the expense of the other side.

Alex Jones not only owes $4 mill to the two parents, but another $45 million was also decided to go to the parents today.

Seeing him yesterday sweating like a big fat man, and his face as red as a rotting apple…he is in bad health and…I’ll keep the rest of my thoughts to myself. 😉

@101, LOL!

Jones was not in court as the jury read the unanimous verdict.

In court Friday, Bernard Pettingill, Jr., a forensic economist and former economics professor at the Florida Institute of Technology testified he estimated the combined net work of Jones and his business entities to be between $135-$270 million. “You cannot separate Alex Jones from the companies. He is the companies,” Pettingill said. The testimony is in stark contrast to Jones’ public statements that he is financially bereft

Oops for those that did not get to watch it. This amazing documentary that describes the three-pong active measures we all have witnessed and or suffered since freaking 2007 got pulled from youtube.

And documentarian caught Charles Flynn in the process. Score!

American Mindf*ck: The QAnon Documentary They Don’t Want You to See
by Jim Stewartson

Glad to hear about the $45,000,000 punitive damages. Although there’s not really any price he could pay for what he did to those two (plus all the others, hopefully they get the same award!) after their child was murdered.

Yeah, he was sweating it in court. Seemed bewildered, too. Like, ‘Wait! Anything I say three times is true! You can’t do this to me!’

Matriarch of the Blues – Etta James

We got it good on the bayou.

Full album! I’m celebrating the Alex Jones and Mike Flynn, and his brothers, capture.

Enjoy some Etta on me. We gotta serve somebody.

Like I always said, somewhere on this blog juke joint, we are only Democrats because of the New Deal.

PJ I am glad the Flynn Faith Oath shot their fingers off with an AR-15.

That was a good one of yours somewhere up there. You all be good now.
Take care.

@105, ETTA!!! Sing it!

I used to think Amnesty Int’l were the good guys.

Good to see you Luna, hope you had a good time in the cooler part of your state.

Beata! Thinking of you. May all come out well!

Here’s an alpine lake with an island for you.

Luna, hi! A way back upthread I was worrying about you sweltering. Glad to hear you were in the mountains! And such mountains. What a glorious lake.

I did swim a couple of times — briefly — in the above lake, but could only manage to wade in this one. Still plenty of snow up in the high country! Indeed, most areas in the state got at least 2 X usual winter amounts, and some areas had as much as 8-10 X usual snow amounts during last winter. Definitely no problem finding water along our hiking route, but the heat was brutal.

re Amnesty Intl, as Dmytro Kuleba says, “its report distorts reality [and] draws false moral equivalence between the aggressor and the victim.”

Interestingly, that’s the same moral and logical mistake they make in justifying ignoring women’s rights in favor of trans activists. In that case, of course, there’s no storm of protest. But still, yet one more instance where the treatment of women was/is a leading indicator of failure to know which end is up.

Hi quixote! On the trip I saw some Kalmia microphylla which is a first for me! At first thought it was a wide-belled pink heather, but then looked more closely and wow, definitely a Kalmia.

I hate that Twitter cuts off parts of photos. Have to click on the pic to see the whole image.

The snow covering half that lake … brrrr just thinking about swimming in it. So, so, so beautiful.

Is that the Kalmia in the foreground of the second photo? The alpine Kalmia I’ve seen are stunningly delicate and gorgeous. Don’t remember the species, but I’m pretty sure it was in British Columbia, so it might even be the same one.

@113, Started to follow Kuleba. Yep, sounds like a variation on DARVO. The subjective feelings of a few men suddenly makes them the most oppressed and outweighs child safeguarding and women’s rights.

@116, it’s pink heather in the photo, but the alpine Kalmia is the same shade of pink/magenta. It was only about 4-5 inches high. Am looking at my wildflower ID books and an older text says that K. polifolia includes the dwarfed alpine form since the two intergrade completely. Okay. I took some pics but don’t know how to post them directly as a comment. Fascinating flowers — has arching filaments with the anthers tucked into a cupped parts at the edge of the corolla.

PJ @98, Please let the two factions divorce!

@99, Fabulous! I hope your comparison comes true.

Luna, your pictures are gorgeous. Glad you had a good time.

MSNBC did a segment about the Senate race in NC. The R guy is Ted Budd (how perfect). I don’t know how NC women will see him, but to me he came across as aggressive and domineering. A Type A personality. He’s the type of guy who thinks women need a strong hand. Maybe before Roe was overturned, he would look appealing (?) – not to me! but to some women? Now he comes across as freaking scary. He wants a total ban on abortion. No exceptions for rape or incest. “If that happens to you girl or woman, too bad so sad, you’re just going to have to suck it up and let the State violate your bodily autonomy again because we can.” Legally, this time. Yikes almighty.

Cheri Beasley is the D candidate and she is quite lovely.

I hope women all across America give these Christofascists, women hating assholes a kick in the teeth they’ll never forget.

120 Ted Butt looks like the @$$hole he is.

Luna, welcome back! The photos are just breathtaking. I’m jealous of your swims! I hope they were lovely and refreshing.

That news about Alex Jones and Roger Stone is sickening. But it does make some sense that Stone is a Svengali for some of the younger MAGAs. He may have seduced (Ewwwwwwww!) more than one of the prominent male Trumpers.

LaNita – don’t leave again please! It’s so good to have you here. And Beata, I hope you feel well enough to visit us again!

PJ – I read a USA Today piece that suggested Beasley has a good chance of picking up that seat. 🤞🤞🤞

That’s good news, MB! I’m hoping even in Kansas, Jerry Moran, who is mild (comparatively), gets drowned in the coming wave. Jerry is a go-along and not a leader, but I think go-alongs are just as dangerous. (However, I do appreciate that he’s not MAGA obnoxious).

If Repulsives take a real beating in November as they should, they’ll be in a real pickle. It’s not like they can back down. They need the anti-choice zealots.

I could be wrong (of course), but like I said before, I think the KS vote was the canary in the coal mine for Rethugs (their prospects for November). The little canary not only didn’t make it, he got run over by a Mack truck.

Really good news about the Kansas vote! (I’m still catching up on news) It’s telling that the majority of newly registered voters were women. Gods, haven’t those people who don’t vote because “it doesn’t make a difference” seen enough evidence to the contrary by now?

LaNita, good to see you!

MB, the swims were so refreshing that a couple minutes was enough!

Senate can go forward with the vote-a-rama, and is approved that it can pass with only Dem. votes.

Luna, your mountains and lakes are so beautiful. Glad you had a good time and shared your photos.

Putin is murdering his own people in his war against Ukraine, but of course he thinks the end justifies the means. And he knows the people have no power over him.

Russian men, dying in war, leave many families sad, angry and silent.

He [father-in-law of dead soldier] vented his rage on Facebook, saying Russians needed to ask why their sons were dying. He described the war as a “massacre started by crazy old men who think they are great geopoliticians and super strategists, incapable, in fact, of anything but destruction, threats against the world, puffing out their cheeks and endless lies.”

Go Kamala!

As for Putin, it’s a pretty big failing that Ukraine hasn’t been armed enough to get rid of him already. Soon, hopefully.

The Democrats are having such a good week, even some political pundits have noticed. Go Kamala!

New post – come upstairs!
