Good Weekend Widdershins!

This week there were two overarching themes in the political cartoons, Trump/Kim and Michael Cohen even though there were other things happening in the news.  So, we’ll call this theme(s) with variations.

Let’s take a look at what some of the cartoonists did this week.

Okay Widdershins, hope y’all enjoyed these.  This is the final weekend of carnival, heading into Luni Gras and Mardi Gras. Not sure how much, if anything, I’ll be involved in.  This is the time when it gets absolutely crazy out there.

“Wounded in Nam!” Ouch.

Tornado watch for the area so that settled it, no parades for me.

Yikes, Fredster! Hope it won’t be a bad one.

@4: Just read that Sunday day parades will roll but without bands or any walking groups. I’ll be just fine sitting all of that out. It’s mainly a squall line and is closer than that screen grab shows.

Love the toons, Fredster! And that hilarious float. Stay safe and dry!

@9. The verdict of history. Stolen.

@10: And no recourse for it, damn it! Get rid of electoral college.

@9, ayiiiiiii! Stolen. Stolen from her, stolen from us.

After crying my heart out @9, here’s something to laugh about. Why can’t all the MAGAts do this?

Wow, so many great things:

Tunes!

Mueller float is awesome!

And this, I hope the Burnout was standing close enough to hear this…the dipshit that said he could have beaten Dump in 2016.

She WON!!
In Selma: Man presenting @HillaryClinton with international unity award outlines why:
“She was elected president of the United States, and it was stolen from her,” he says, as crowd stands for ovation. “It was stolen from her by the FBI…it was stolen from her by the Russians.”

@13: Time once again for Quick Draw McGraw.

Fredster, glad to see you’re safe. I saw on the news that several people died in LA, due to a tornado?

Did anyone catch 60 Minutes tonight? The first story was about a Portland, OR atty that is suing the govt, on behalf of several kids, for not doing anything to stop climate change. It was very interesting.

We need to know who this person is.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which selects winners of the peace prize, has said that someone using a stolen identity has nominated Donald Trump for the award.

The Norwegian news agency NTB quoted committee secretary Olav Njolstad as saying it appears the same person was responsible for forging nominations in 2017, as well.

Njolstad who could not immediately be reached for comment, declined to identify the person, adding that Norwegian police have been informed.

“Every year, we get lots of invalid nominations, but these are nominations that are not valid because those who nominate are not qualified to do so,” Njolstad told NTB. “As far as I know, this is the first example of someone nominating someone by stealing another person’s identity.”

@13 The comments on the “Responsible Gun Owner” are hilarious!

So Hillary is honored at a breakfast in Selma and days after insulting her, Bernie showed up to the breakfast. What a putz.

And WHAT IN THE WORLD is with the new narrative that Bernie is a civil rights hero?! It’s nuts!

Anyway, we are supposed to be having a snowstorm, but all snowstorms this year, I’m sure it’ll be a bust. But they already cancelled schools, which is dumb.

Sebastian Gorka has been kicked off FOX ‘news’. Apparently because he compared AOC to Stalin and she wants to take away your hamburgers. Or it could be that FOX has finally realized he’s a Nazi.

@19 And WHAT IN THE WORLD is with the new narrative that Bernie is a civil rights hero?!

That fool thinks he can win the black vote!! LOL. We will see how that goes for him with Kamala Harris in the race.

@22. Caption. The Real President. Who Cares.

@16: Really? Haven’t heard about any in La, but I think abt 20 something were killed in Alabama near the Georgia border in Lee County Alabama.

We did have the tornado watch for awhile but nothing severe developed in the nola area, thank goodness.

@23 Cory has always been a huge supporter of Hillary. He campaigned his ass off for her. Remember one of her rallies when Jon Bon Jovi was on one side of her and Cory was on the other? That was fun.

I also remember – I think after she ‘lost’ (she didn’t) – the media swarming him one day and asking about her. He said ‘Leave her alone. She’s a nice lady’ and pushed his way through all the cameras and press. And that was that.

I’m trying to clear some stuff I’ve had bookmarked forever and I came across this article from 2015. It’s from Wayne Barrett who was a thorn in Dump’s side since the 70’s. (He died in 2017) But, Tim O’Brien is still around as I see him occasionally on the news. It’s long, but truly what people should have known in 2016. Damn media. His connection to Roy Cohn should have been an alarm. There is so much thing they ignored. It should be thrown in their faces. “Moral larceny” …

Trump’s problem is not so much what he’s done, but how he’s done it. I decided at the start that I wanted to profile him by describing his deals — not his lifestyle or his personality. After getting to know him, I realized that his deals are his life. He once told me: “I won’t make a deal just to make a profit. It has to have flair.” Another Manhattan developer said it differently: “Trump won’t do a deal unless there’s something extra — a kind of moral larceny — in it. He’s not satisfied with a profit. He has to take something more. Otherwise, there’s no thrill.”

There’s a lot more in that article. I would say I’d like to read Barrett’s book, but I don’t think I could take it. Another person who tried to warn us.

By the way, did Bernie ever clear up his FEC violations from 2016? Last I heard… no. Maybe Chris Hayes can ask him.

@29, No, of course not. I saw a clip of that. Someone asked him about it recently and he said no, because he stopped being a candidate so it no longer mattered. The interviewer asked him again, IIRC, and Bernie angrily talked right over him as usual.

Whoooohooo!

House Democrats demand documents from more than 80 people and institutions affiliated with Trump

… opening a sprawling investigation of whether he and his administration have engaged in obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power.

The farthest-reaching request since Democrats took control of the House underscored lawmakers’ determination to hold Trump and those around him accountable for controversies that have dogged the president during his first two years in office — and perhaps lay the grounds for impeachment proceedings.

Those receiving letters from the House Judiciary Committee include the president’s two eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump; his son-in-law, Jared Kushner; his former personal secretary Rhona Graff; Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization; and former top White House aides Hope Hicks, Sean Spicer and Stephen K. Bannon.

Other demands for documents are directed to institutions including the White House, the Justice Department, the Trump campaign, the Trump transition team and the Trump Organization.

Recipients have two weeks to comply with the requests. Should they not do so, the Judiciary Committee will subpoena the documents, panel staff members told reporters on a call Monday morning.

That’s quite an article from 2015, the Wayne Barrett one. I read something a lot like it, probably based on it, in 2016.

There needs to be a new category in the criminal code, something you can charge media orwners and editors-in-chief with. Crimes against democracy, for chasing gossipy flippertygab while giving monsters a pass.

….And …. we have a 2nd governor in the race. He seems to have a good record — except for liking fracking, which is enough to get him a “no” from me.

John Hickenlooper, former Colorado governor, joins Democrats’ 2020 slate

@22, Oh the comments on that one! (tears of laughter)

Christ. I didn’t even notice the guy sitting by himself in the background @22.

@35, Heehee, no one else is either. That’s one of the reasons he’s so grumpy.

Nobody likes the Sandcrab, so those in the room just pretend they don’t see Mr. Grumpy. They know that he is just trying to use them as tools for his campaign.

@23 & 27, My son has been a Cory Booker fan since he saw her give a speech at Hillary’s convention.

Did you guys see that bernoid is not only running for prez, as a democrat, but he’s also running for re-election for his senate seat in 2004 . . . as an Independent.
