Falling Down

It seems that every week I say something about how difficult it is to keep up with the news. And gosh darn it, I’m gonna do it again. I wrote a post on Sunday that by Monday afternoon was no longer entirely relevant. So here I am re-writing it on Tuesday night. It may or may not be up to date on Wednesday morning.

The big news development of the last 48 hours has been the very very rapid downfall of Conservative hero Milo Yiannopoulos. Why does anyone care about this degenerate and why are we taking pleasure in his unraveling? Though he was an active asshole before, Milo became famous in 2014 as a result of GamerGate. For those who may not know this travesty, here’s a brief synopsis: Several prominent female video game developers becamemilo the target of harassment and death threats on the internet, especially Twitter, because they were accused of colluding (having sex with) journalists for flattering coverage. Yiannopoulos published articles about it for Breitbart and led many attacks on the women. And so his right-wing, misogynistic public persona was born. He became a hero of the right, he hated political correctness, and his attacks on women, Jews, African-Americans, immigrants, transgender people, etc., made him a Conservative super star. His college campus tours brought out protestors, which fed his fame among Conservatives/neo-Nazis/white supremacists. It was a curious thing because Yiannopoulos is gay (and British. He also fetishizes black men. He only has sex with black men, which he insists is what makes him not racist. He doesn’t realize it actually is one of the most racist things about him.)

Earlier this year his fame extended after he led on-line attacks on actress Leslie Jones, SNL cast member and one of the stars of the “Ghostbusters” reboot. Yiannopoulos led racist Twitter leslie-jones-87255f4e-af77-4da8-9ec3-bfa8abb1a20cassaults on Jones. Around the same time these people published private photos stolen from Jones’ phone. (If you think you can stomach it, see some of the racist Twitter attacks here. The overwhelming assaults briefly led Jones to leave her social media accounts. Protests against Yiannopoulos finally led Twitter to ban him. (But he did get a $250,000 book deal with Simon and Schuster.) These things made him a hero of the Right/Conservatives who claimed he – and the Conservative point of view – were being censored by the corrupt Libtard media. Ultimately Milo’s behavior – and the keynote address speaking slot he was given at CPAC this year – have revealed that modern day Conservatism is morally and intellectually bankrupt. The young leaders of Conservatism, like Yiannopoulos and bobble-head Tomi Lahren, are proudly anti-intellectual. The days of someone like Bill Kristol – a man you may disagree with, but you can’t argue he’s probably read a book or two in his life – are long gone for Conservatives. They exist solely to offend. Even many Conservatives recognize it.

On Friday night Yiannopoulos (wearing a pearl necklace) appeared on Bill Maher’s Real Time. Maher has been consistent on his support of free speech – and he has hosted many deplorable guests over the years. But his interview with Milo was the equivalent of Jimmy Fallon tossling Trump’s hair on the maher-miloTonight Show. An embarrassingly soft fluff piece, in both its official on-air interview and on the internet only Overtime segment. And Maher’s attacks on liberals who protest Milo are preposterous. I actually think over time Maher might become radicalized to the far Right. There is a very thin line between Far Right and Far Left. Maher’s long-standing Islamophobia and support for people like Yiannopoulis, could turn him into a Right-wing crusader.

But, back to the degenerate Yiannopoulos. He was still riding high through the weekend after his triumphant appearance on Real Time, when on Sunday an anonymous Republican Twitter group, Reagan Battalion, published previously public but unknown interviews with Yiannopoulos, in which he waxed rhapsodic about sex with 13 year old boys. And all hell broke loose. Though the Breitbart crowd fiercely defended him (including Michael Flynn Jr.), slowly establishment Republicans turned on him. Pressure was put on CPAC to cancel his appearance. It took over 24 hours for CPAC to withdraw their invitation. Simon and Schuster cancelled his book. And word came out that Breitbart employees revolted, demanding that he be fired. Eventually Yiannopoulos resigned from Breitbart (where he was an editor) before they could fire him. In his sorry/not-sorry resignation, he said he was sorry for his choice of words but really, everybody knows sex with 13 year olds is good and everyone is overreacting and blah blah blah. Where this horrible human being goes from here is anyone’s guess. Pundit on Fox? I have no doubt he will be back.

My words in the first paragraph were prophetic! Between my writing of this post at 1am on Tue night and the time it published Wed morning, it was already out of date! So…

UPDATE!!!!!

Bill Maher has finally spoken out on Milo’s downfall. And Maher is saying “You’re welcome.”

DYB – thanks for the abridged Milo bio. I had never paid attention to him until this last month. I’m glad he exited the stage for now.
Speaking of having conservative guests, did anyone catch Lawrence O’Donnell last night talking to George Will? I was encouraged by Wills’ assertion that a lot of actual conservatives will get back into the picture once 45 produces a budget, which will be an ugly mess. I get almost hopeful listening to these people, then I think of the nuts 45 has surrounded himself with. I just want him gone. And I had to dig this morning to find anything about Russia in news. Nothing on the front page of WAPO or NYT except in the mentions of the town halls where even some Rethug voters are asking for investigation into it

DYB

Thanks for the post and more info on this jacka$$, Milo. He thinks he is Queen for the Day and that he is too ‘cute’ to fail. Loser!!!!

The fact that the Rethugs are so desperate to find like minded people, even if they have to scrape the bottom of the barrel, is par for the course. They are also the church going men that get caught in the men’s bathroom with their pants down. I guess it ain’t easy being ‘saved’ and having to live up to any kind of morals.

Next time someone I know says they are a Republican, I am going to raise my eyebrows, say, “Oh yes, your mascot is Milo”, and laugh in their face.

Milo’s antiapology was laced with the victim card. He was abused as a teen, one was a priest the other he doesn’t say…but he believes it gives him license, (and profit), to publicly degrade women, minorities and anyone that isn’t like him.

Meanwhile, the Repugs think sexual assault is fine on victims older than 13.

Was your original post about Milo? Anyway, really liked this one. Laker thinks Milo copies Mick Jagger’s manner of speaking and (former) appearance.

“…have revealed that modern day Conservatism is morally and intellectually bankrupt. The young leaders of Conservatism, like Yiannopoulos and bobble-head Tomi Lahren, are proudly anti-intellectual.”

This is so true. Reminds me of the Bernie Bots and their current crusade to take over and dismantle the Democratic Party. They’re all over twitter, attacking Dems in general, and Hillary and Tom (forgethislastname) and pushing Keith Ellison for party head.

And the witch hunt continues…they still can’t get over the fact that the public voted for Hillary to win.

Hillary Clinton Emails: Federal Judge Blocks Access To Redacted Emails Citing No Evidence Of Government Wrongdoing
Details about internal government documents are usually exempt from declassification under the FOIA, but Judicial Watch said that the records were proof of alleged wrongdoing.

“We remain curious about the documents…the PR effort remains troubling and something that we think is in the public’s interest to know,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said, adding that his group is “evaluating the opinion and considering” moving on with an appeal.

News about Clinton’s email scandal was considered by many to be the tipping point that eventually gave Donald Trump the leverage in last year’s presidential race. Former Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, for instance, said Monday that “forces within the FBI” worked against Clinton during a taped NewCo. Shift discussion with John Heilemann.

He was referencing the “bad judgment” of FBI Director James Comey, who notified Congress 11 days before the election that the FBI was revisiting its previous investigation into the private email server Clinton used while she was the secretary of State.

DYB wrote: Yiannopoulos (wearing a pearl necklace)

I’m guessing, but I bet IRL, Milo has received many a peal necklace.

Interesting Esquire article about Milo here.

And from the article, here’s a little info on how those advances usually work:

Generally, a solid chunk of an advance—let’s call it a third—is tied to a sales incentive: you don’t get that extra chunk unless you sell x amount, but it’s announced as part of your advance amount anyway. The other two-thirds is paid out in installments over the course of the writing of the book, and through the year after publication.

@3: And I just checked his website last night to see if Randy had any new vids out. I didn’t see this one.

@9, yeah, but casting pearls before swine, ya’ know. 😀

meant to add….waste of pearls.

@12 & 13: Luna check email.

Sadly for Milo, all I can to him is this: (I love Sweet Brown!)

Okay, we seem to be all quiet on the Widdershins front tonight and I’ll probably add to that with this comment.

However, I have two articles y’all need to check out at the Foreign Policy website.

The first is a piece on how we might back into WW III. It’s a bit of a slog to read but still well worth it.

The second piece is FP’s report card of tRump’s first 30 days. Again, it’s a good read.

Fredster, this is for you:

Well, who could have foreseen this?

The Travel Press is Reporting the ‘Trump Slump,’ a Devastating Drop in Tourism to the United States

It’s known as the “Trump Slump.” And I know of no reputable travel publication to deny it.

Thus, the prestigious Travel Weekly magazine (as close to an “official” travel publication as they come) has set the decline in foreign tourism at 6.8%. And the fall-off is not limited to Muslim travelers, but also extends to all incoming foreign tourists. Apparently, an attack on one group of tourists is regarded as an assault on all.

As far as travel by distinct religious groups, flight passengers from the seven Muslim-majority nations named by Trump were down by 80% in the last week of January and first week of February, according to Forward Keys, a well-known firm of travel statisticians. On the web, flight searches for trips heading to the U.S. out of all international locations was recently down by 17%.

http://www.frommers.com/tips/miscellaneous/the-travel-press-is-reporting-the-trump-slump-a-devastating-drop-in-tourism-to-the-united-states#.WK5RX_AP7Fw.facebook

Well, duh – of course there is a Trump slump. And wait until college enrollments are way down for next year because of all the foreign students that can’t or refuse to come here

DYB, great summary of the limey bottle job who should lose his “status VISA” since he’s here as “someone of extraordinary abilities.” His extraordinary ability is nothing more than accessorizing self-aggrandizement.

I admit I found the shiftless scofflaw 3 or 4 years back when I started paying attention to the Alt-right. I’m surprised he lasted this long, but since, as you say, conservatism (it doesn’t even merit a capital “C” any longer) exhibits the mental and emotional maturity of boyz just graduating from Little Snugglers Huggies, their raison d’etre is coextensive with Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog.

Two more things and I’ll shut up — there’s not a whit of difference between this faux, pearled-up bottle job and Dolt 45. Strip the performance art from both of them and you have shameless, self-promotion sitting on top of hurting others. The irony is the bottle job is just more honest about it.

CPAC and the conservo-droids, led by Matt Schlapp who is Milo in fifteen years, offered a sexist, chauvinist, racist, homophobe, Islamaphobe, and white nationalist a keynote speech and they find out he’s said something that might cause some consternation among some people. So what do they do? Blame liberals and Republicans who said it was a mistake from the beginning. That’s conservative personal responsibility stirred into a big kettle of steaming stupid.

Couple of strands of fake pearls, some bangle bracelets, fifteen years, and Milo, “This is Your Life”.

Matt Schlapp

Haha – not too far off, Prolix

@24, Contrask, how be ye? Tell hubby and daughter I thank them for taking such good care of you.

@18: Awww! I want to give him/her some scritches!

Oh thanks for asking, Prolix. I am doing ok. Actually enjoying having some time off, but who enjoys pain? I mean, teach 7th graders or stay home with broken leg ?- hmmm. Reality will set in next week & I will have to face teaching 7th graders with a broken leg. And 45 is still befouling the oval office.

@27: Are you going to be mobile enough for that contrask? That sounds daunting.

16 Fredster

This is another version on the internet…love the music and Wil has been doing parodies for awhile. Hope no one is offended by this…

contrask@20: from the article: that would direct the Justice Department to release information

And I’m so sure Jefferson Beauregard Sessions will be more than happy to comply with that. NOT!

@29: Oh, I wasn’t aware of that.

@27, while I doubt you could play the clip, here’s an idea. Tell them the Black Knight bit your leg.

18 NW Luna

Cute pup, nose in the camera and all.

And I have a thought I would like to bounce off you guys. This deal on the Ukrainian oligarch – getting nabbed to go face charges in Spain instead of coming here. Is it possible that the IC orchestrated this move to keep form having to have Sessions handle this deal and therefore letting him off the hook, with the hope that by the time Spain is done with him we might be rid of Sessions & co? http://abc7chicago.com/news/ukrainian-oligarchs-extradition-to-chicago-on-hold/1768041/

@34: wow, that sounds like Spock-level chess but that would be very clever on their part.

Just saw on Rachel that the Harris county sheriff (Houston TX area) said he would not go along with the idea of working with ICE on deportations.

The decision places Harris County in line with 251 of 254 Texas counties that do not take part in the program that allows ICE to deputize local law officers to perform certain federal immigration enforcement functions in jails.

The decision will free at least $675,000 in the sheriff’s budget to address local public safety issues.

http://www.khou.com/news/local/sheriff-gonzalez-opts-out-of-ices-program-for-immigration-detention/411914308

@34, I don’t know. Spain’s political climate is wackier than their weather forecasts of raining mostly on the plains. Spain is rather precarious economically right now, I imagine a good scandal would be welcome to keep the fiscal problems off the front page.

I don’t doubt there are some high-church maneuvers in the counter-espionage circles these days. Even though the law says the CIA can’t operate domestically, winks and nods abound.

I just want the guy to have a food taster and for his guards to watch for girls wearing LOL sweatshirts.

Senator Bill Cassidy, R-LA ran into a buzz saw at his town hall in metro Nola.

I just want the guy to have a food taster and for his guards to watch for girls wearing LOL sweatshirts.

LOL (no pun intended)

Oh geez, The Ruling Class is on TCM right now. I missed the first part of it. It’s so funny and bizarre.

@13, haha!

The worm Chaffetz tries to deflect…

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

That little turd Sessions:

Mr. Sessions, who has opposed expanding gay, lesbian and transgender rights, pushed Ms. DeVos to relent. After getting nowhere, he took his objections to the White House because he could not go forward without her consent. Mr. Trump sided with his attorney general, the Republicans said, and told Ms. DeVos in a meeting in the Oval Office on Tuesday that he wanted her to drop her opposition. And Ms. DeVos, faced with the alternative of resigning or defying the president, agreed to go along.

@43, Fredster, I like that.

@45, that’s really sad.

@46: Let’s hope that WaPo means it.

@47: And the sad part is they’re going to deport them to Mexico whether that’s where they are from or not. I’m sure the Mexican government is just thrilled.

@49 but how long are they going to be in deportation custody? Because they don’t have a plan to handle this and are making it up as they go. I just hate the lack of concern for peoples needs here & DAPL & Muslim ban. What a shit show drumpf is.

This guy, Gorka is as thin-skinned and unhinged as Trump! Our WH has truly gone to the dogs & not cute ones (like you posted earlier Annie)

http://www.newsweek.com/sebastian-gorka-white-house-terrorism-adviser-angry-call-559805?rx=us

@6> Socalannie, the original post about Milo, but also about Kellyanne and some about Russia. But Milo’s fall was so spectacular, it banished Kellyanne off the front page. Of course, because news comes at us like a hurricane, Kellyanne is back in the news… so I might have just posted the original post after all! LOL. I can’t keep up!

Fredster on Milo’s necklace – yes I’m sure he’s worn many.

And I can totally see the Mick Jagger reference. Or maybe he’s doing Johnny Depp in “Pirates of the Caribbean?” That was based on Keith Richards I think?

@18> OMG That doggy is beautiful!

@51, sometimes fate just does stuff for the laugh factor. Case in point, naming this joker — Gorka. Gorka, who happens to be an immigrant, who has tickled the testicles of every right-wing nut fringe group he could get his stubby little paws around is so kind as to lecture us about what it is to be an American. I simply detest these people. Bannon found him in a coke-infused alcoholic stupor, they fell in love because of Gorka’s aforementioned ball-cupping ability, and now, Gorka is telling the Cheeto Jesus to drop his pants because he’s never had better. I loathe these people!

@40> I saw “Ruling Class” years ago. I just remember him hanging off a cross. What a weird movie, but fascinating. I should rewatch it.

Good to see you Prolix!

I’ve been busy for the last couple of days too, worked until midnight yesterday. So sorry I’ve been MIA!

That’s interesting about the TX Sheriff who said he won’t participate in ICE raids. Isn’t that something “states’ rights” people should applaud?

@44> Jackie Evancho, the former TV contestant who sang at Trump’s inauguration, tweeted at Trump that she’s grateful he let her sing at his inauguration and she would like to meet with him to discuss transgender rights. Evancho’s sister is transgender.

@54> Yeah Gorka is fascinating, like Charles Manson.

Vanity Fair article on Comey and the Letter Incident.

http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/02/james-comey-fbi-director-letter

And have you read this? Louise Mensch is a Republican journalist (she loves Pence…) But she detests Trump and she’s done some interesting writing on him. She’s the one who broke the news of the FISA order when no one else would write about it. Reading some of her things I keep thinking: “Wow that’s a tin-foil hat worthy conspiracy theory!” And I really don’t want to be that person who starts believing nonsense like idiots who believed PizzaGate. But – this article here is fascinating even if you don’t follow her all the way to the end of her conclusions on just how much Putin is playing everybody. Or maybe it’s the only natural conclusion. Some things from the election I’ve already forgotten about, like that weird series of Tweets from a long dormant FBI Vaults account which started dumping anti-Clinton documents for no reason and praising Fred Trump… that was just bizarre… Why did that happen? In any case, even if you remove the commentary, the list of events that transpired is hard to reconcile as a series of random coincidences. There just can’t be that many coincidences all leading to a single outcome.

https://patribotics.wordpress.com/2017/01/17/dear-mr-putin-lets-play-chess-louise-mensch-trump-russia/

32 Prolix

Hahaha, that was great. Kind of what already happened to the Dems in 2010 when they lost the House, Senate, major GOP wins for Governors and the voting districts were fixed for the Rethugs.

Even when that couldn’t take Hillary down with voters, they got Putin, his spies and hackers, along with the FBI to trash her with fake news 11 and 3 days before the election.

@54 Ah, thank you Prolix, for that graphic description of Gorka, lol . Classic channeling the Rude Pundit-

@55 DYB – I was heartened by the TX sheriff too.

Trump calls raids “a military operation.”

DYB, I feel like there is no hope left.

contrask, I know how you feel. It can be so discouraging and exhausting. But…

Amazing how the Harry Potter theme works so well these days. Waiting for Education Decree # whatever.

“It should also be no surprise that Maher is taking credit for Yiannopoulos demise. Because the only thing America loves more than the mediocre White guy is pretending that the shameless promotion of White mediocrity is a meritocracy.”

http://verysmartbrothas.com/americas-love-affair-with-immoral-and-mediocre-ass-white-men-will-be-its-downfall/

I’m listening to Rience & Bannon right now and we, the opposition party has just got it wrong. We are just so mean to Cheeto. WOW we are just sore losers and should give up. Chills down my spine.

@69> I’m trying to remember last time Republicans lost (2008, 2012) an election and gave up… Somebody help me out here!

DYB, the Republican party is completely sold out. They are eating this up. Every word I heard was laced with digs at the horrible media and the evil Democrats. And they are just little white doves trying to make America great. We’re just so wrong

@71> contrask, don’t get too discouraged watching that. Remember, that’s a very specific kind of audience.

And my pep talk for the day: suffragettes didn’t quit after 10 days. Neither did the Allies in WWII. Etc. The fight is only getting started. There will be set-backs. There will be victories. Some people will disappoint you. Somebody you’ve never heard of will surprise you.

@58, I just read that article. Ugh. Way too long and self indulgent. Could have been said in half the amount of words. It reaffirmed my belief that Comey is also self-indulgent and obsessed with himself and his importance in spite of all the talk we hear about his “integrity”. Also that Lynch was cowardly in not reeling him in. As a regular citizen who doesn’t have hours a day to keep up with DC bullshit, I am still furious that all this money and time was wasted on Hillary’s emails when it was perfectly ok for for her predecessors and the Bush Whitehouse to do the same or worse. I know why this disaster happened, misogyny and anti-Clintonism. Bill had a successful presidency and he and Hillary improved peoples lives and the rethugs will never stop persecuting them for it. I am still stunned that half of America could be so f*&king stupid.

Peter Doau does have a scary take on Bannon’s appearance. I think it’s an accurate take on things.

Doing some catching up…

@63: Damn! Didn’t know that working inn the Russian Foreign Service could be so, well, deadly.

I bookmarked the Newsweek Gorka piece because i want to hear the entire 20-something minute rant.

@59, Wow! Amazing post. Still not sure I can believe her portrayal of Comey as a hero working behind the scenes, but I hope its true. I also hope she’s safe. I was thinking as I read this that it would make a great movie–maybe a modern day “All the President’s Men”. What do you think?

@75, love this article. I tweeted it.

@64: I just saw on the news that Tillerson and Kelly were in Mexico saying there would not be mass deportations and that whatever it is they’re doing, it’s not a military operation.

I have to wonder how long these people are going to be willing to clean up after tRump’s verbal shit piles?

@80> I saw that comment with Kelly denying “mass deportations.” But I wonder what their definition of “mass” is.

Mensch is very vocal on Twitter, she doesn’t mince words. One thing I keep being reminded of is that she is a Republican and she really wants President Pence. But, the break down of events is interesting and many questions need to be answered…

Comey…is the oddest of all. I really don’t see any evidence that he is a man of integrity. But this story is just hitting the airwaves via CNN. Trump told FBI to publicly deny Trump/Russia connection and FBI refused.

http://americablog.com/2017/02/trump-tried-influence-fbi-investigation-russia-ties.html

Fredster, these people are all just bizarre. You never know what insane thing will come out of their mouths.

@81, I’d heard of Mensch, but never read her before. I did like her post, it was easier to understand for me than a lot of the others on this subject. I agree with you about Comey. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

When I was reading Peter Daou’s two threads on twitter about Bannon and CPAC, a commenter said that Mexico is considering buying its corn from another country. That would be a real kick in the nads to the red states that voted for trumputin, wouldn’t it?

I just read that article DYB. Is the FBI working for us again? Forgive me if I’m confused.
I

@86, contrask, count me in as another confused buddy.

How are you feeling today?

The story I linked to @87: this is why I have always loathed republicans, since the early 70’s. The only thing that matters is that they get rich at the expense of the rest of us.

@90: This is how Steve Scalise (R-David Duke w/out the sheet and baggage) will conduct his town hall:

http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/02/rep_steve_scalise_telephone_to.html#incart_2box_nola_river_orleans_news

@90, LOL! that looks about right.

@91, what a jerk.

This happened at the Jewish Community Center in Nola. Turned out to be a false alarm.

Yes@81 DYB – that is the article I heard Chris Hayes explain! makes me feel better – Rachel is going to talk about it too

Annie – I’m feeling better – TY for asking

Did you guys hear that Alan Colmes died? Wasn’t he on Crossfire or some other show like that?

@96, He was best buds with Hannity on some gawd-awful RWNJ show. I only know this because BB posted it on SkyDancers.

Comey — hmmm. If he’s working for the people again, I wish he’d hurry the eff up at it. A few more Russian diplomats are going to die before he gets done.

@58 From the article about Comey:

A former Southern District attorney recounts how on every new prosecutor’s first day in the office, Comey would tell the person that he loved his job as a prosecutor because it involved, by definition, doing the right thing. He cites as a formative influence the 20th-century realist theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, who urged Christians to become actively involved in politics to ensure the moral good.

A**hole thinks you can only have good morals if you’re a Christian. Considering all the “Christians” that voted for Stump, I have to question their so-called morals. And keep your dang religion out of my politics!

@98, I had to look up Niebuhr as I wasn’t familiar with him. He sounds middle of the road as far as organized religions go. Obama and M.L.King Jr. are a couple of other people who say he influenced them. I had to chuckle at this info:

[His wife] Ursula Niebuhr left evidence in her professional papers at the Library of Congress showing that she co-authored some of her husband’s later writings.[27]

LOL. What do you bet she co-authored more than just the later writings?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinhold_Niebuhr

And I agree — keep your religion out of my rights!

The Right is sick. I just found that my closest neighbor is in a different district than I am. Between our land and south of us is property that was recently owned by a Republican lawyer, who had the districts gerrymandered to suit him. He died before he could run, but we are stuck with weird districting lines out here in the country.
I’m glad for the CAPC and seeing the agenda of Bannon right there. They really said the cabinet picks were custom chosen to dismantle those departments to make it impossible for progressives to get government done. Scary

But we didn’t have today’s party-over-country Republicans back then.

@102: If you’re absolutely sure about that contrask keep it in mind when redistricting happens in 2020, well if we’re all still here then. That could be an excellent reason to redraw the district lines.

Oh – I’m clueless – but we will learn. We both can be active in our precincts then.
Look at the press on the no-show town hall. They also have been talking to Dateline for a future program
http://ktul.com/news/local/indivisible-tulsa-holds-town-hall-meeting

@105: It can always be brought up about how the district was redrawn the last time and how strange the lines seem to be. Let’s face it: the dead guy won’t be complaining.

Forgot to add that so far the “Poor”s have it. 😀

@107: Hint: open the link in a private window.

Done! and so is he!

@102, Contrask, the cabinet picks are certainly telling. A few days ago Rachel said there are over 500 positions that the president has to fill through the nomination/confirmation process and over 90% of them haven’t been nominated yet. Presumably these are key positions within the government that should be filled ASAP. Tonight she said 4 people already working in the WH were escorted out because they failed the FBI background checks. She mentioned several other things the administration has done that were either stupid or nefarious, or both. I am convinced 45 is only in it for the money and the “respect” (he ain’t the brains of this op), so who wants the chaos and the incompetence? Who wants to see this country implode? Why is Bannon bragging about departmental disruption at CPAC? Is he Putin’s puppet/agent too? How many more are there? I am working on a complete tin foil ensemble here…

@112, I wish I looked that good in foil…..

@98, “A**hole thinks you can only have good morals if you’re a Christian. Considering all the “Christians” that voted for Stump, I have to question their so-called morals. And keep your dang religion out of my politics!”

Hear, hear!

@113, that’s really scary, Fredster. Why did these damn scientists have to create these horrible nerve toxins anyway? They’ve made it too easy for monsters to kill large #s of people. I used to be the fearless traveler when I was young, but not anymore.

@109, uh, I have to show ignorance and ask how is that different from having one’s preferences set to keep browsing history, pages visited, and autofill off?

The thing about Milo – not only did the conservatives love him before they found out about this, he just added to the narrative of some of those nut jobs who think all gay men are pedophiles or pedophiles are gay.

@111, tRump himself wouldn’t pass a background check to work in the Federal government. Unfortunately as POTUS he’s exempt.

So… after Louie Gohmert said this:

Earlier today, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX-01) invoked the 2011 shooting of Congresswoman Giffords at a constituent event as a reason not to hold a public town hall. In a statement, Rep. Gohmert said: “At this time there are groups from the more violent strains of the leftist ideology, some even being paid, who are preying on public town halls to wreak havoc and threaten public safety.”

Gabby Giffords says this:

Town halls and countless constituent meetings were a hallmark of my tenure in Congress. It’s how I was able to serve the people of southern Arizona. I believed that listening to my constituents was the most basic and core tenet of the job I was hired to do.

“I was shot on a Saturday morning. By Monday morning my offices were open to the public. Ron Barber – at my side that Saturday, who was shot multiple times, then elected to Congress in my stead – held town halls. It’s what the people deserve in a representative.

“In the past year, campaigning for gun safety, I have held over 50 public events.

“Many of the members of Congress who are refusing to hold town halls and listen to their constituents concerns are the very same politicians that have opposed commonsense gun violence prevention policies and have allowed the Washington gun lobby to threaten the safety of law enforcement and everyday citizens in our schools, businesses, places of worship, airports, and movie theaters.

“To the politicians who have abandoned their civic obligations, I say this: Have some courage. Face your constituents. Hold town halls.”

I clicked on a link to elle about Chelsea Clinton and hubby taking Charlotte to her first protest. Then one paragraph down, I see a selfie of Sarandon and Linda Sansour practically cheek to cheek at the same rally. (Insert vomit emoji)

If not for Sarandon & Sansour and their ilk, we wouldn’t be protesting. They should move to Vermont and help Sanders grow his own damn party instead of ripping off the Dems. Maybe they can get him to hold a town hall meeting in his own state, since he hasn’t in the last several years.

GOP = Gutless Old Politicians.
Also Grifting Oligarchical Panderers.

Sorry I’ve been away for a bit.

John Boeher is having a good laugh at his former colleagues in the House when it comes to Obamacare repeal.

Yes, I’m linking a YT with Rick Santorum on with Chris Cuomo. He only lets him deflect to Obama for a minute, even tho’ he tries over and over. Then Christine Quinn (love her) takes over and Cuomo lets her without interruption. This is the way it should be. I get so irritated when the media doesn’t let the guests play out their debate or when they talk over each other. What bugs me the most is when, just when the conversation gets good, the pundit stops it to ask about a different matter because they’re watching the clock and have their list of pre-set questions. Drives me crazy. It’s one of the reasons Hillary lost. Let ’em lie without corrections, let ’em talk over her surrogates who were trying to talk, then changing the topic before it was ironed out. Not so here.

@119> Yes, he did. And it’s the gay community that will pay the price.

So overnight Trump tweeted blasting FBI for leaking classified info and making his life difficult. I can’t imagine this is going to go well…
