Breaking Bad to Worse…

Posted on: February 10, 2017

Rebellion isn’t the worst thing, or so says Frederick Douglass.  The worst thing is what causes the rebellion. frederick-douglass

And I hear, “Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more.”

Not knowing can be excused.  Not caring can’t.  Gross incompetence coupled with evil intent has inspired rebellions since the pharaohs.  The one brewing now around the Yamikaze is different only because we are fortunate enough to have constitutional guard rails.

Knowledgeable observers are beginning to figure out incompetence isn’t a Bannon trademarked grand strategic plan.  Signing highly secretive executive orders without any semblance of interagency vetting is the stuff from which rebellions explode.

black-and-white-bannon-trumpSeveral issues are fraying around the edges to a point where pulling on any of the threads leads to disaster.  There’s the Yemeni raid approved over dinner and a dare that, “Obama wouldn’t have the balls to do it.”  There’s going to CentCom in Tampa and instead of mentioning the longest war in U.S. history, “Dolt 45” attacked the press based upon a lie – one of the freedoms for which soldiers die.

Keeping a running tally of the lies, miscues, and mistakes is a daily computation requiring proficiency with Excel.  Politifact decreed only 4% of the Trumpanzee’s statements are true.  Four percent – one more than three percent and one less than five percent.  Think about that.

Ultimately, the incompetence and the lies are lodestones that will drown any leader especially one whose credibility is built around bluster and bravado.  Bannon’s grand scheme of overwhelming the media by insurrectionist disruption is falling flat.  Last night’s 9th Circuit decision might have stuck the fork in that pig.

None of the Trumpeters have noticed that the heavens didn’t open on the first day of the new administration with a flurry of activity on such things as repealing Obamacare or breaking ground for a “big, beautiful southern wall.”  In fact, no one is yet tired of winning.  So far if there weren’t broken promises, there wouldn’t be any promises at all.

Kleptocracy is a word being bandied about with frequency these days.  It essentially means, “government by thieves,” – self-enrichment by action and deed.ansel-adams-fight-our-own-government

Another word you haven’t heard yet, and only political science nerds really study such things, is kraterocracy.  In my humble opinion, it is much closer to what is happening.  Kraterocracy is a government by those who are strong enough to seize power through force or cunning.  Morality is determined by those with the power. Social Darwinism is the normative state.

Since Congress cut a deal with Lord Commander Marmalade it seems as though they are willing subjects of the kraterocracy.  As long as there are tax cuts and fewer services for the poor and elderly, the Republicans can continue to swell with pride each time they get a whiff of a Cheeto or an orange Tic Tac.

Social Darwinism accounts for no one being the least bit outraged that it costs $1,240,600 a day for Melanomia and Barron to live separately from Dolt 45.  The monthly cost of over $30 million is more than the cost of Section 8 housing for 15,856 NYC homeless families.  Not to be outdone, the Pentagon is even chipping in on the Trump self-enrichment scam.

twilight-zoneAnger at such waste and extravagance has caused Democrats to be scattered and unfocused in their demands.  A thousand different “asks” is not asking anything.  The constant torrent of Bannon-esque fear-mongering washes away supercilious edicts from the puritanical Brogressives.

Narrowing the “asks” needs to be the goal.  The “asks” need to be easy to understand – no explanation or translation needed.  The message must be clear and “bumper stickerable.”  Here are my two:

  • Demand Trump’s tax returns; and a
  • Congressional Commission on the 2016 Election.

Answering either of these demands will impugn this bunch of moronic hate mongers, if not lead to impeachment.  As odious and olid as Pence is, he is predictably feculent in his beliefs.  We can deal with the stench of his theocracy.  Unlike the Trumpanzee, he’s not an existential threat to the Republic.allowed-to-impeach-a-president-for-incompetence

Twenty days in and it seems as if the wheels are already coming off.  From General Nutjob Flynn lying about his tongue-bathing of the Russian Ambassador to Kellyanne Conjob breaking the law from the Brady Briefing Room, the incompetence meter is pegged.  Both of those violations were in the last 24-hours.

Pretending you are an accomplished businessman on teevee is easy because there’s always a second or third or fiftieth take.  World events don’t forgive and neither should we.  The rebellion will cure its cause – if we persist.

What’s on your mind today?  First letter, each paragraph is what I imagine the skeevy, unctuous Steve Bannon smells like.

Apparently people are now writing postcards to the White House addressed to President Bannon. Sounds like a good idea to me! Are there Hillary Clinton postcards? I’d send a few to President Bannon and “So-Called President Trump.”

@1, I’ve seen some of those “President Bannon” postcards. You are supposed to put the postage stamp upside down as another little dig showing it is from the Resistance.

If you don’t watch anything else today, watch this:

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Maggie Haberman of the Times has tweeted several messages over the last few days about how sad people at the White House are. I keep asking her if we’re supposed to feel sorry for them. She doesn’t answer me. Seriously, Maggie give it a rest.

Afternoon shinners!

Prolix another great post. One again you cut through all the crap the talking heads on the teevee give us and also provide us with that “linky goodness” for more reading.

On a different topic, Fredster is not feeling too spiffy today. I think I have a nasty head cold. Nose clogged up at one point only to run like a faucet later. In other words, he feels like doo-doo. And so, he’s gonna go crawl back into the bed.

Later!

Oh…and another image for y’all.

@9, being persnickety about English, given the indefinite antecedent in “Made in China,” does that mean Ivanka, Marc, Edison, NJ, or all three?

In any event, President Xi of China must be tired of winning today since he cowed the itsy-handed man child concerning the “one China” policy. Guess that means that our China policy is now, “Made in China”.

@10: LOL! It could indeed be all three.

@8, that’s how mine started out Weds. Then the body aches kept increasing in discomfort and last night/today is the worst. I know perfectly well that only time and symptomatic comfort treatment are effective; it’s a viral not a bacterial infection. Normally I don’t get frequent URIs (upper resp infections), but the stress of the last few months is telling.

Time for more fluids and to stick my head back under the covers.

@12: Thanks for the info Luna. I’m sooo hoping it’s not the “other thing” (won’t say it) and it stays a head cold.

@12, Luna, from the experience, please watch the coughing. Treat the cough. I ended up breaking my ribs because of the coughing associated with the flu. While the flu was awful for 10 days, the ribs hurt so much worse. Please take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing. Good thoughts coming your way.

Prolix,

Fantastic post and lots to chew on with the links.
Thanks. So many new names for El Douche.

I keep thinking, is someone keeping an excel sheet on all the illegal, criminal, and insane things TinyHands is pulling? Then I think, hey, do it yourself Shadow…then thinking, Holy God, it’s only been 3 weeks and who in their right mind could keep up the data?

Rachel Maddow just made a very strong case for collusion between Russia and the trump campaign to get him elected!!!!!

@15, thanks Shadow. That is exactly what Bannon is hoping. We all just get too tired to keep up with his shenanigans. I’m worn out and I love to read this political/policy stuff. We just have to “persist”!

(diffidently gets up the nerve to argue with Prolix about words) I think the best term is kakistocracy.

Rule by the worst.

They’re not strong, they’re not cunning. They’re just the worst, so they speak to the worst, and managed to get installed by them. (Not elected. Somebody else was *elected*.)

So anyway, hence my predilection for kakistocracy. Plus, it has that onomatopoetic quality….

@16, Cats, I’m watching Rachel as well. She makes a very strong point — demand a Commission independent of Congress with subpoena power on the Russian efforts to steal the election from Hillary and the majority of the American voters.

Get better, Luna and Fredster! (My least favorite thing about my cyberneighborhoods is I can’t bring my friends chicken soup!)

First letter each paragraph. RANK SKUNK ASS… Then?

@16 Cats, is there a video to that?

I had cold a month ago for a few days. I’ve just stopped coughing and dealing with the sinus clog a couple of days ago. A damn month.

@18, Quixote, I have failed to do my job around here if anyone, for a hot second, doubts their ability to kick me right in the vocabulary. And that goes doubly for you because I always learn from you. So kick away.

And yes, you are correct, kakistocracy is the rule by and through the worst. I could have used that construct, but kraterocracy or kratocracy is a concept central to Max Weber associated with social order. It is kinda niche. Weber played a big part of my undergraduate learning. I shouldn’t have used it because it is so nuanced, but it does better convey the idea of how these orange guttersnipes came to power.

Both kakistocracy and kraterocracy are two sides of the same coin. Kraterocracy, where might makes right, will always lead to a kakistorcracy, governing by the worst. Either way, in what time remains of Dolt 45’s term, each day brings us closer to “K’ocracy”. And I haven’t even started on Krugman’s theory of a kleptocracy.

@21, Bannon smells like “Rank Skunk Ass and Cat P” — I needed a few more paragraphs after the “Rank Skunk Ass”.

When did El Douche start governing?

He just writes EOs that others write for him and doesn’t know jack about policy.

He just wants to wipe out Obama, Hillary, Bill…and everything they have because he is a loser that pretends to be a rich Emperor.

Al Franken on Bill Maher’s show just said when asked, “What are the Republicans saying behind closed doors about Trump?”

His answer, “Some are concerned about his mental stability and others, say harsher things.” LOL

The high watermark is he’s crazy.

Will we be seeing a press conference by the ‘intelligence agencies’? Will James Comey be there?

Kocracy. Perfect. All the K*cracies rolled into one plus homonymically right. (Okay, okay, I know that’s not a word 😀 )

The gerrymandering ruling is Good News in bold flashing all caps. If the courts got rid of just the worst gerrymanders, and Crosscheck was finally killed, we might even start getting bits of our democracy back. (Now I need a shocked icon here!)

@22, Shadow I just checked MSNBC.com and there is a clip on Flynn and the Russians. Sorry, I don’t know how to embed, esp on the iPad.

@27, that is great news about the gerrymandering. If the formula holds up as a place to start the analysis, that would be such a huge step forward. This is a case to watch.

Meaghan McCain said on Faux News that all the Clintons – Chelsea, Bill and Hillary – need to stop tweeting and go away because they lost the election.

@33, wait, I’m confused. Is Meaghan the pot or the kettle in this analogy?

Trump must have had a dream that Kelly Ayotte morphed into Elizabeth Warren. Or a fully awake delusion. The man is mentally ill.

On Thursday, during a meeting with 10 senators that was billed as a listening session about Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, the president went off on a familiar tangent, suggesting again that he was a victim of widespread voter fraud, despite the fact that he won the presidential election.

As soon as the door closed and the reporters allowed to observe for a few minutes had been ushered out, Trump began to talk about the election, participants said, triggered by the presence of former New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who lost her reelection bid in November and is now working for Trump as a Capitol Hill liaison, or “Sherpa,” on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch.

The president claimed that he and Ayotte both would have been victorious in the Granite State if not for the “thousands” of people who were “brought in on buses” from neighboring Massachusetts to “illegally” vote in New Hampshire.

According to one participant who described the meeting, “an uncomfortable silence” momentarily overtook the room.

@35 Perfect. I especially love seeing Piers Morgan getting his ass handed to him. Was he on Apprentice… and won? Don’t know because I would never have watched that show regardless of the election.

@37, I never watched the Apprentice either and with Piers Morgan on there, that would have just been another reason for not watching.

Can we call Stump/Bannon/Flynn pinko commie now?

@3, the video was great. And great post!! I think, actually, that Congress is another thread that will be ready to pull soon. There aren’t that many Senators who need to be convinced to flip over, based on some of the articles you linked.

I am totally with you on the Democrats simplifying their asks down to two. I will tweet yours at Chuck. The worst taunt of all for Drumpf is that he isn’t a legitimate President. Let’s keep pushing on that!

Fredster, and Luna, ugh. Feel better!!

@15 – It is a full-time job to keep up! Luckily someone is doing it for us. We have a link in the top right corner section of the blog, under “Keep Up.” It’s the first one.

Great post Prolix! I’ll have to try to catch Bill Maher on youtube tonight. Off to read the next post, then to work!

31 Cats, thanks…I’ll go check it out.

Shadow I just checked MSNBC.com and there is a clip on Flynn and the Russians

Thank you Cats, this is the clearest explanation I have heard on Flynn, the election and campaign to take Hillary down. Here is the link to the video. Great!
