Lazy Weekend Music: Survival

Posted on: January 9, 2016

Good Saturday, Widdershins.  It’s been quite some time since I’ve been able to type out a post, thanks to a nasty bout of tendonitis in my right rotator cuff.  Of course, that’s my dominant arm, and of course in occurred during the Christmas season.  My baking suffered, the grandchildren trimmed my tree, and I discovered that you can actually do a decent job wrapping gifts with your non-dominant hand.  At any rate, after weeks of wearing a sling, downing uncountable NSAIDs and a brief  (but productive) whirl with physical therapy, I can type well enough for long enough to do my weekend post.

My recovery comes at a good time, as your posters have had a rough few months experiencing a whole host of maladptions in health and harmony.  At any rate. I dedicate the weekend the health, healing, and harmony for all at TW for 2016.

This is an otherwise open thread.

(1) Breathe – Faith Hill

(2) Another One Bites the Dust – Queen

(3) Comfortably Numb – Pink Floyd

(4) Fix You – Coldplay

(5) Healing Chants – The Neville Brothers

And for anyone else who enjoys “The Big Bang Theory”,

All is right with the world, Chat is back. I feel better already.

This could be our TW theme song:

The Kids Aren’t Alright by Fall Out Boy. Work your way through the introduction, the lyrics are pretty great.

Or this one:

Welcome back Chatbluuuuuuuu!!! You were sorely missed.

Another oldie but goodie for our ailing team:

I’m trying to

Maybe we are just Stressed Out:

Wow, it took me a half-dozen tries to get that video to embed — like I know what that means to begin with.

@5, Chat, I almost posted that one too.

Not a video but a funny tweet.

How about some doctah songs.

Now this would make me feel much better quite quickly. It might be along those lines for all of us — sort of a group Sexual Healing from the T3 disease or Trump Tumescent Trauma.

Nice to have you back chat!

@ 8, god, that is hilarious!

Fredster, you should post that next door. 🙂

Prolix@12: Oh that’s just a…EWWWWW!

annie, it was either sophiect or upps that retweeted that from edge-of-forever retweeting it.

The next time we get some of the wingnuts who want to talk about the Founding Fathers and religion, we should point them this way.

@17, here’s something no one is talking about — Cruz says it is settled law about his ability to be Preznit. No so on any level. It has never been addressed, ergo, not settled law. Here’s the kicker — the natural people who are Cruz’ big time buddies, Scalia, Thomas, Alito — if you go to their originalist leanings, the Framers wanted to extinguish any possibility that a foreign loyal or a foreign enamored dilettante to be Preznit unlike the German borned who had ruled England.

Those three stooges, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito, if they are to be intellectually honest, would have a hard time justifing Cruz under the circumstances. Of course, intellectual honesty and consistency aren’t the long-suit of those three birds.

I’m very glad that you’re on the mend, chatblu.

I don’t think I’m a “looksist,” but I can’t be alone in thinking that Ted Cruz is one of the most unattractive human beings ever to “grace” our planet.

Glad you’re back and recuperating chatblu. I have to admit the first video I watched was Penny/Sheldon Soft Kitty. That episode was hilarious when Sheldon was filling out her paperwork in the ER.

@23: There’s just nothing like Soft Kitty to get you on your feet.

@22, Sue, you know when you go to retail stores and they have artificial stuff that tries to look real so you will get an idea as to what it would look like in your home — things like plastic fruit in a bowl on a dining room table. When I look at Ted Cruz, I see a plastic corpse made up for a before and after comparison in a funeral home. He looks like a corpse that has been made up and set out past its “bury by” date.

@19: It is sort of New Age-ish.

Prolix, you nailed it.

annie@19: that’s pretty.

Prolix@20: I think it was Thurs. night that Lawrence O’Donnell had Laurence Tribe on his show. I believe O’Donnell doesn’t think Cruz fits the bill but not sure about that. I can only take Lawrence in dribs and drabs. In any case it’s funny to watch those on the right hem and haw over the issue.

@22 & 26: Agree with both of you and that’s an apt description of him Prolix. 😆

Good piece on how Hillary is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t…

Well, I didn’t mean to do that. Didn’t even know I could. Please delete if it’s too much.

@33: Not a problem. Feel free to post articles of interest.

@32, that is a very thoughtful piece of critical thinking.

Critical thinking is prominent by its absence these days.

@20, Prolix, I agree with you that this issue needs to be settled by the Supremes once and for all. The presidency is the only office that the founders used the term “natural born” for a requirement. Then they grandfathered their own generation out of the requirement, since the country was new, but wanted future generations to be “natural born,” and it is theorized, free from allegiances to other countries. I read somewhere that one of the presidents in the 1800s, hid the fact that his father was Canadian. Why would he do that? I find the subject interesting and would love to see what the Supremes make of it. Wouldn’t the donald have standing this time around?

As far as Cruz showing his mom’s birth certificate after reporters dug up her name on Canadian voter rolls in 1974, the fact that she was born a citizen doesn’t mean she kept it. You have to be a citizen in Canada to vote (I have a niece who married a Canadian and is going through the years-long and expensive process to acquire dual citizenship for herself and her two kids). Of course, the voter roll thing could have been an error, but when did she move to Canada? According to a poster on fluffpo, he moved to Canada when he was 18, had two kids, but did not confer citizenship on them at birth because he did not live in the USA for at least 5 years after turning 14.

There’s something to be said for the theory of born allegiance. Half Cuban, half Canadian Cruz is the person most responsible for the shutdown of our federal government, costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars and hurting our credit with the S&P. That act, which I thought was extremely unpatriotic at the time, seems even more so, if the creep can’t technically lay claim to natural citizenship.

@26, LOL, but so true!

Go Clemson!!!

@40, chat, you’re so funny!

Go Packers!

Released Friday, on his birthday, this is from his new album, Blackstar, and it is also the name of his current off-Broadway show. Eerily, it is named Lazarus.

Trump’s meltdown begins on live TV… except on FOX.
