Lazy Sunday Music: All Aboard!

Posted on: September 29, 2013

Good Sunday, Widdershins.

I’m away for the weekend, chaperoning the BFF’s Sea Scouts at Rifles, Rails, and History.  Therefore, it seems like a pretty good time to do a piece on train songs.

Trust me, there are bunches of them out there.  Rhythm and blues, and jazz abound, and as every good Southerner knows, a train is an essential part of a good country song.

The usual “title-artist-content” rules apply in this otherwise open thread.

(1) Long Train Running – The Doobie Brothers, 1973

(2) People Get Ready – The Impressions, 1965

(3) Crazy Train – Ozzie Osborne, 1980

(4) Drops of Jupiter – Train, 2001

(5) The Loco-motion – Little Eva, 1962

(6) Peace Train, Cat Stevens, 1971

Sort of a rough live version of Casey Jones by Grateful Dead:

“Trouble ahead, trouble behind…” Seems like a good theme for our craptastic congress has in store for us all.

Chat, congrats on your Dawgs! That game was a real nailbiter. This morning its all over the news that our beloved (Ha!) coach, Lane Kiffin is fired.

socal: I sent you a link to a story on that. They fired him in the parking lot at the airport!!! LOL!!!!!

That is wild Fredster!

socal@4: After I signed out of mail the yahoo sports thing came up and had that has the headline and the subtitle was axing him in the parking lot at LAX. I almost choked on my coffee and was worried about spraying it all over the computer screen and keyboard!

Okie-doke some songs.

Saw this article and had to add it in here:

Zach Mettenberger:Yeah, LSU didn’t win, but Mose Schrute’s lookalike solidified his status as the nation’s most improved quarterback in the Tigers’ 44-41 loss to Georgia and could be a top-1o pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The transfer from Georgia finished 23 of 37 for 372 yards and three touchdowns. His mom may take some grief when she returns back to work at Georgia on Monday, but Mettenberger may be pointing to the draft board next spring over Georgia’s Aaron Murray.

Guess there’s always a silver lining.
