{Singing} A time and space for us. Peace and quiet and open air wait for us somewhere.
Good Sunday morning, Widdershins. We have survived another week of turmoil. Citizens have taken it to the streets and are demanding outrageous things such as the means to support themselves. What’s next? A place to live or something? It’s a mess out there – in cities across the US, South America, and Europe. To these brave souls, I dedicate today’s subject, that of places. Let’s talk about songs that honor places, whether general or particular.
Here are my five selections of “place” tunes:
(1) In My Room – The Beach Boys – Surfer Girl, 1963
(2) Our House – Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young – Deja Vu, 1970
(3) This Is My Town – Montgomery Gentry – My Town, 2002

(4) Midnight Train To Georgia – Gladys Knight and The Pips – Single, 1973
(5) Miss American Pie – Don McLean – Single, 1971
Bonus intergalactic pick: Drops Of Jupiter – Train – Drops Of Jupiter, 2001
Please share your favorites, Widdershin, so that we might celebrate another week of hanging in there. Otherwise, this is an open thread.
