Iz Not Halping.

Iz Not Halping.

Widdershins, I’m extremely angry today. Our Congresscritters, trying to do I’m not sure what (it sure isn’t anything to do with universal health care), have decided that even though abortion and birth control are LEGAL FUCKING PROCEDURES, they are too ooky and oogy to be covered by whatever piece of crap health “insurance” reform they are peddling today because some pea-brained, morally-bankrupt idiot who is stuck in the third century might just object to it.

House Democratic leaders struggled Wednesday to strike a deal that would restrict the use of federal money to pay for abortions under sweeping health care legislation headed for debate on the House floor this week.

(snip)

The House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, a supporter of abortion rights, has little choice but to heed the concerns of members of her caucus who oppose abortion. As many as 40 House Democrats, a potentially decisive bloc, have threatened to oppose the bill without tighter restrictions on abortion.

Over all, the House bill would provide coverage to 36 million people at a cost of $1.1 trillion over 10 years.

(snip)

The Congressional Research Service said recently that money received by the government insurance plan, including premiums, “may be classified as federal funds or government funds.”

But in a memorandum analyzing the House bill, Prof. Laurence H. Tribe of Harvard took issue with that conclusion, which he described as “an exercise in sophistry.”

Under the House bill, he said, abortion services could be financed “only by special private premiums that are segregated” from other money. Thus, he concluded, the House bill, “as it currently stands, does not authorize governmental funding of abortion.”

My husband, who is usually quite well-informed,  just asked me if this was the Republican plan, and I don’t blame him! Does this SOUND like something real Democrats would ever come up with in a million years? This, my friends, is the result of Obama and his faith-based initiative to woo the fundiegelicals over to our side. This is where his campaign and his strategy has taken us. This is where Nancy Pelosi is now, being held hostage by a bunch of 40 misogynist freaks in the House, and you know what, it’s her fault for supporting Obama and supposedly claiming that he was “God’s gift.” Yeah, Nancy? Ya think he’s God’s gift now? Do ya, punk?

This is NOT what Democrats want. This is not what Republicans want. This is not what ANYONE wants except a few hundred out-of-touch, overprivileged, self-centered, self-righteous, corrupt pieces of shit masquerading as public servants. How dare they? How dare they pretend they care about us? How dare they call themselves Senators and Representatives? How dare AARP and paid-for physicians try to fool the elderly into supporting it, when the bill could very well end up taking money away from Medicare? How dare the President push this down our throats?

This bill is the worst of all worlds: insanely expensive “health care” that does even come close to covering everyone and throws women’s health under the bus.

I am ready to say that I do not trust Congress to do the right thing by women. I am ready to say that liberals should not support this bill, or any bill that comes out of the House or Senate, unless it is HR 676. Are you?

If you want to make your voice heard on this issue, and speak up for a real health plan, one that covers everyone and saves hundreds of billions of dollars a year…then here is what you can do.

  • Click here to send a fax to Obama and your Congresscritters to tell them that you won’t accept anything less than single-payer.
  • Click here to send a letter to your Representative to support Anthony Weiner’s amendment to change HR 3200 into single-payer legislation. (Pelosi is supposed to allow a vote on this amendment today or tomorrow, if she doesn’t change her mind again.)
  • Sit-in schedules and donations here.

I heard from a friend that the current House bill does not provide for routine Gyn care. Anyone else heard anything about this?

Chat – I also read at Echidne’s place that it does not cover contraception. Too ooky!

Does it cover Viagra?

Did anyone seee Michelle Bachman whipping up the crowds to “Kill the bill”? Amazingly, she then held up a copy of the Constitution as a model, then read the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. Makes me wonder of she knows the difference.

OMG, really, Chat? Hahahahahahaha! Gawd that woman is nuts.

This bill should be killed, but not because it somehow violates the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence; just because it’s very, very bad legislation.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate (officially, anyway) has reached 10.2%.

We have just had another multiple shooting in Orlando. 2 dead, 8 wounded. Appears to be a laid-off/terminated employee. Shooter at large at this time.

Oh my Lord, Chat!

A very bad economy, a war no one wants, and too many guns.

This could get very, very ugly.

Shooter found – at his mother’s home.

Is the mother all right?

Yes, he surrendered peacefully.

Sad, and scary, chat.

Here is a really good article on the ins and outs of what’s happening in the House over this bill.

And I’m sorry to say that NOW is starting to wimp out. Something tells me someone was gotten to.

I received an email in my Inbox today saying that they want me to contact my Congresscritters and say that I wanted HR 676, but that I would settle for the POS bill as it stands.

Hello? Have these people ever, EVER negotiated with anyone in their lives? If the other party already knows you’re going to cave, then why in the world would they give you what you want?

The best outcome, IMHO, would be for this bill not to pass, for nothing to happen this year, and for the Congresscritters to go home and hear about Medicare for All every day during the holiday break. The rushing is really, really not good and is guaranteed to produce a very bad result.

Hmmm?

Democrat, Republican, what’s the difference between the two? I sure as hell can’t tell anymore.

To me, they are both “creatures” spawned from the belly of the “WallStreet Beast!’

And….

We all know how to defeat a “Beast” don’t we?

:-)

Right now, they are saying that the vote could come as late as Monday. This tells me that they do not have the votes.

I agree, chatblu. What with 40 anti-abortion Dems and 20 pro-immigration Dems threatening to vote against it, we have 60 potential votes lost. And we know that no Repubs are going to vote for it, because they are the Party of NO.

This is good. We need to slow it down. Most of the legislation’s “benefits” would not have been felt until 2013 anyway, so there should not be such a hysterical rush.

Looks like a female police officer, Sgt. Kimberly Munley, stopped the psychiatrist’s rampage in Fort Hood. What an amazingly brave woman.

The hero cop who ended the bloody rampage at Fort Hood by pumping four bullets into the crazed gunman even though she was wounded is known for her toughness, friends say.

Before relocating to Texas, civilian police Sgt. Kimberly Munley spent about five years as a cop in North Carolina where she forged a reputation as a no-nonsense officer.

“I’d like to say I’m surprised, but I’m really not,” said close friend Drew Peterson, 27.

“She was born and bred to be a police officer. If you were ever to be in a fight, she’d be the first person to stand up next to you and back you up. She’s a tough cookie.”

Re the coverage of abortion in the House/Senate plans.

I know I’ve told y’all about this before, but abortion isn’t covered under the Fed Empl Plans unless it falls under the big 3 of rape, incest or life of mother.

I know too that for many years the Pill wasn’t covered under Fed employee plans. I had a friend who used to grip monthly about having to pay full price for them.

Chat, I too heard something about the plans not covering routine gyn treatment, exams. That’s just incredibly stupid. One thing the bill(s) were supposed to do was to act in more of a preventative way. How helpful and cost-effective or whatever will it be to not cover gyn exams and then have to deal with a woman who has ovarian, cervical or other types of cancer? Arrgghh!

Even if we support single pay plan, aren’t the dems, with intimidation of legislators by the Catholic Conference of Bishops, slashing abortion/contraceptive/gyn care anyway?
